Law enforcement officers face perils most of us never have to worry ourselves with. Between irate drivers, armed criminals and the tangle that is the U.S. justice system, it's a wonder anyone willingly volunteers to protect and serve. Still, we doubt many officers have had to face off against an attacking tree. That's exactly what happened as one police officer was driving through Mission, Kansas. The cruiser's dash camera caught the action as a massive limb came crashing down onto the road just as the patrol car passed underneath.

Fortunately, the policeman wasn't harmed in the resulting collision, though the cruiser in question required substantial body work, including a new windshield. Hit the jump to check out the brief clip for yourself.

This is wildly scary! Happened to me in 2009, over $5,000 in damages but the structure of the car wasn't damaged. Still scared the crap out of me. Nobody stopped to help. They just drove by and said "Are you ok?"

So should someone have whipped out the Jaws of Life first and ask if you need help later?

That has absolutely NOTHING to do with the article. Would you seriously stop doing this? It's annoying and contributes nothing to the subject at hand.

Not really news. Did anyone expect GM to just sit back and let the Volt get a bad reputation? Of course they're fixing the battery, what manufacturer would let their halo car burst into flames?

In your zeal to post something negative about GM you clearly did not take the time to check on which article you were posting to. Way to go troll.

So there Robert! p.s. - nobody needs to post stories slamming GM. They suck just fine on their own. The volt is POS.
