If you saw a C5 Corvette pulled up next to a C6 Corvette at a stop light, would you assume that a drag race would follow? And which vehicle would win? We'd have our money on the C6 Vette, but then again, the C5 owner may have a bit extra under the hood.

While on his way home from picking up the family's Thanksgiving turkey last week, one astute driver noticed just such a scenario play out in front of his eyes, and he was smart enough to press the record button on his camera phone. Unfortunately, the Vette owners weren't smart enough to know that public drag racing is always a bad idea, even on the day before Thanksgiving.

As it turns out, the C5 did have the juice to keep up with the C6, but it didn't have very good traction. Follow the jump to watch a Bowtie battle for the ages turn into one very expensive insurance claim. With joggers, bikers and kids within a stone's throw of the road, this was a really stupid move, and the drivers are lucky only their cars – and egos – were damaged.

NOTE: There is some swearing in the video, so you may want to turn down the volume.

I street raced for many years. Never had an accident (got tons of tickets) But then again I learned how to drive on country roads and was taught by someone who actually knew how to drive, not by someone who just knew the rules in the driving book. Being much older I now realize that it should all be done on the track, but let's get serious, that will never happen. As for the guy that lost control.. you would have to be an idiot or a nervous kid to lose that machine on a dry road at that speed. They are made to handle the road, no matter the torque

I passed by this incident shortly after it happend.. DPS and Sheriff dept were there, but no arrest! The Woodlands TX. is a planed family community with children and parents riding bikes along with joggers everywhere. This behavior is unacceptable, These clowns should be prosecuted!

i can't figure out what's more annoying, a couple jerks in corvettes, or the guy taking the video who's chomping on that gum so loud it sounds as if he hasn't eaten in a month.

I'll bet you the C5 driver was driving with one hand on the steering wheel's 12 O'clock position like a douche.
