Starting next March, Mini buyers will be able to grab a set of Recaro seats off the option list for their cars. The upmarket buckets will be available for all Mini models except the Countryman and Convertible.

As you likely guessed, they don't come cheap. Be prepared to fork over a heady $3,000 for the better seats. There are other constraints. The Recaros only come in black leather and Dinamica and can only be had with built-in heaters. Still, they look the ruckus and should make Cooper S and JCW drivers even happer when they attack the twisty stuff.

Nice to have will they fit in my 2004 Cooper S? BTW some of the coolest people I know drive MINIs and tools don't wave at each other, MINI drivers do!

Great news. man of us with reasonably capable hot hatches in the US have been bemoaning the lack of european recaro options sateside for... well damn well forever. kudos to mini for making this a reality.

Hey Zamafir yea wasn't it down to silly seat/airbag laws US has in place? Also, someone complained about $3,000 cost, well I'm sure much of it has to do with additional engineering and parts required to meet obnoxious US laws.

Pretty much, yes. and 3k is nothing, were i to grab the euro recaros that were an option on my car today i'd be looking at 3k EACH. EACH! major props to mini for doing this.

first thing i said when i saw those seats was Cadillac CTS-V. those are the same seats as the CTS-V. expect this to be a $2000-$3000 option

"TRY TO"? I don't think I would ever own a Mini (for reliability reasons), but the Mini has been heralded time and again as being one of the best handling cars you can buy... not one of the best handling FWD cars, or one of the best handling cars for around $25k, but rather one of the best handling cars, period.

Great. One more reason for these people to think their go cart is a sports car.

You are such a hopeless cynic aren't you? I totally envision a bumper sticker on your car saying, "Same s**t, different day".

IMO, a go-kart is just a sports car for the truly hardcore. Give me an engine and a cage and let me loose. 30mph will feel like 85.

My "go-kart" has full time AWD, 400hp, and comes stock with Recaros. Laps the ring in 8:11 in the rain, holds several world rally championship titles. Mine runs 11 second quarter mile times while out handling your fat ass muscle car. The thing is, it's more of a race car than the 97 Cobra I had before it. Sad but true. Looks aren't everything you know..... Go test drive an Evo.

I got the Recaro seats option on my 2010 Mitsu Lancer Ralliart (plus HIDs and upgraded stereo) for MUCH less than $3K...just sayin'.
