Is this the final production version of the Toyota FT-86? Well, very likely, yes and no. What you're looking at is a scan from a catalog ostensibly leaked from Toyota's Modellista parts division that's making its rounds of the intertubes this fine morning.

Of course, we haven't get anyone at Toyota to verify the leak yet (we're working on it), so it could turn out to be a ruse. But assuming it's real, it almost raises more questions than it answers.

For one thing, earlier reports suggested that the production model (to be sold here as the Scion FR-S) would look significantly different from the concept cars that have appeared to date. And this one looks pretty spot-on.

For our part, we appreciated the show car's cleaner lines without all the pseudo-aftermarket bolt-ons pictured here, so we'll have to wait another few weeks to see the factory model at the Tokyo Motor Show before we cast final judgement.

This is the first time in years I have had any respect for Toyota. Props to them for building something cool that only they can: A simple, good looking, inexpensive pure sports car.

I saw the concept FT86 at the NY autoshow last year and was very impressed. This aftermarket model shown here less so. Too much crap on it. Toyota should just produce the vehicle as they did for then NY AUTO SHOW and then offer up an warrantied aftermarket supercharger kit dealer installed for greater dealer profit.. JMO and thanks for the reports.

YES FINALLY! AND IT LOOKS VERY much to the concept and great interior. Just a bit dissapointed that the rear lights werent like the ones on the Ft-86 II concept :( But still a great car and design!

I'm not a fan of those wheels, but this is much better looking than any of thee FT-86 concepts. They all had something that didn't quite look right about them. This looks great.

I wish they hadn't pushed the windshield back. I liked the design of the earlier concepts

Those tail-lights are not bad in my book; they really do remind me of the first gen BMW Z4!

Wow, I like it. Yea, the concept looks a lot cleaner and more aggressive but this is impressive for a (toyota) prod model. Even with all the "bolt-on" additions. Now... where's the BRZ?

If you're lusting after this with baited breath, then you should already have a Hyundai Genesis Coupe, which looks better than this anyhow. As for me, never cared for the Corvette/Camero/Supra/&c body style. I like my cars to be T.A.R.D.I.S.s, not anti-T.A.R.D.I.S.s [i.e. big on inside, small on outside]

David do you know anything about this car? Why would someone compare this lightweight coupe against the Gene-pig. BTW I like the looks of the Genesis, but it's way too fat.
