Just another day on another street in New York City: a meter reader and a random contractor shouting it out about a parking fine and the tardy insertion of a quarter. Unbeknownst to everyone, however, the contractor's partner is really, really not happy about getting this ticket. He doesn't shout because he's the strong, silent type. Instead, he lets his power saw do the talking for him.

It's one way to exercise your conviction about a parking ticket, it's another thing to earn one. We're not 100-percent sure this cutting encounter is real, but that doesn't change how watchable it is. Follow the jump to check it out for yourself.

This was confirmed fake and somehow it still gets posted. Did anyone even bother at Autoblog to look into it?

Eh, as long as the editors fulfill their daily quotas set up by AOL...

She's a meter maid, not NYPD. They gave them the hats and uniforms because no one respected them when they were dresses in brown- "Brownies". Infact, I think it insulted the UPS guys. It's staged- anyone that's ever been in a NY Cab knows you wouldn't have the time or balance to film that on the fly.

You are right, after I posted I double checked and there is no 16th PCT in NYC! http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/home/precincts.shtml

Why would someone stage this? I mean, they still have to cut the parking meter in half. Color me confused. I'm not denying it being staged/fake/whatever, but wtf?

Whenever there's a video of someone filming something completely arbitrary (like someone getting a ticket in NYC which happens all the time), more likely than not it is fake.

This definitely looks real. You can see, after the meter has been cut in 1/2, the traffic cop speak calling in backup on her radio.

Major metroplitan cities like NYC, Los Angeles City, Chicago, Detroit, etc are desperately money hungry using parking and traffic tickets to boost city revenue. Rather than increasing the meter time and charging more, these cities use the meter maid instead. It is a game of baiting the driver and reeling him in. This is the result of the ugly Big Government needing to feed off the people with tricks in order to sustain itself.

Heh. Actually, yes, the government's fault. Because "We the people" *are* the government. Remember?

"Big Government needing to feed off the people with tricks in order to sustain itself" - same way a lot of cheapskates "feed off" off the thousands of government-sponsored wellfare programs, also "with tricks in order to sustain" themselves. Government just tries to get even :-)

I'm going to make a variation of Goodwin's law: As an Autoblog discussion grows longer, the probability of it turning into a string of sassy complaints about the government approaches 1.

bad acting, why is the guy in the car pissing his pants like he just saw a murder when any normal person would be laughing?

How anybody could think this is real is beyond me. First of all, a guy wouldn't just tell his cab driver to slow down and then stop right when he has the perfect view of the incident. Secondly, the guy wouldn't know to narrate what is going on to the viewer almost instantly. Thirdly, the chances that someone with a video would get this shot exactly at this moment is very low.
