Filed under the old Batman adage, "Crime Doesn't Pay," here we have a Lexus IS-F being sacrificed for the sins of its owner. Seems someone was caught street racing by California authorities, and they didn't appreciate it. So they relieved the offender of one mighty red IS-F and then didn't send it to an auction or a good home, but straight to hell. Slowly. There's a one-minute video with simple instructions on how to make Lexus pepperoni after the jump.

Hm, let's see here what makes sense...California is basically in debt. So what should we do with a $60k+ car? Sell it for around $50k and allow that money to go to the government to help pay off its debt or should we just get rid of the car altogether and probably in the process actually be spending money to get rid of it?

Common sense isn't our forte here in the US sadly. Sometimes I wonder if they think about these things or they intentionally keep wasting money.

Selling this car could have easily funded some kid's college tuition + housing at Berkeley or UCLA for a year. No wonder why California is in a budget deficit.

*AT LEAST a year (for in state tuition only, it would have lasted perhaps 3 full years) funded a teacher's salary for a year the list goes on it's strange how bureaucrats lack basic common sense

More evidence that California is run by idiots. Where is the value in destroying a functional vehicle? This will have the same effect on street racing that capital punishment does on the murder rate.

WOW that was totally retarded. Cali is broke an instead of selling this car in some other part of the country, these morons crush a perfectly good car, what a jucking foke ;-(

1 - No mention of this anywhere on the interwebs other than those citing this vid. 2 - Same video from 10 months ago with no mention of it being a seized car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nHiDOmFZO3A 3 - Same crusher flattening a 2011 Genesis "at the request of the manufacturer": http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=o01EDAWJLBA To be fair, Cali cops have done this thing before, but no real evidence for this alleged instance. It is however, another fine example of lazy internet "journalism".

I wonder with so many Californian cities and counties in budget problem or even bankruptcy, that they didn't sell this at an auction or something. Instead they choose to incur cost by having it crushed. Then those cities and counties go through extreme measures such as traffic light camera scams to tax their residents. Wonder what those city and county officials are up to.

The market value of that car could have paid a teacher's salary for a year. If that's too much work, next time you raid a chop shop, hire everyone and take seized vehicles there for dismantling and profit. Us car guys will get access to state-certified parts, street racers will directly finance the state budget. Everybody wins.

They could have at least gave that car to Jeremy Clarkson and do another "shootout" with the British Army, maybe. What a waste of a car...

It was sad to see an off road capable 500hp Evo die for its owners crimes, but it died happy, playing a daring game against the British Army. Not out in the cold, all alone with a crushing metal weight reducing it to half its height.

they don't sell it and make money on it cause it involves work. and we all know people in government don't like to work.
