For those enamored of the Maserati GranTurismo, there's a steady progression of increasingly aggressive models to choose from. There's the base GranTurismo, with its 4.2-liter, 400-horsepower V8, then the GranTurismo S with a larger, more powerful 4.7-liter, 434hp V8, and finally the MC Stradale (as it's called in Europe, slightly less hardcore here as the GranTurismo MC) that packs a yet more prodigious 444hp into a more track-focused chassis. (Don't even get us started on the spectrum of convertible models.) But there will always be those for whom even the most extreme factory-prepared performance model will never be enough. And for such individuals, there's Novitec.

The tuning house is long known for tweaking Alfa Romeos, and through its Novitec Rosso division, the very best that Ferrari has to offer, too. But back in '09, they launched Novitec Tridente to deal specifically with Maseratis. And this is its latest project.

Starting with the MC Stradale, Novitec Tridente has dropped the suspension, mounted 22-inch alloys with a thin coating of Pirelli P Zero rubber, and – most crucially – superchaged and intercooled the engine (along with remapped management) up to 646 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, fed by a big air scoop in the hood. That drops the 0-62 time to 3.9 seconds, and increases the top speed to an autostrada-crunching 190 miles per hour. Extensive interior accoutrements can also be added to the package that starts at €23,900 ($32k). You can see the results in full in the high-res image gallery, and the video and press release after the jump.

New from NOVITEC TRIDENTE: 646 hp and 306 km/h for the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

The MC Stradale is the sportiest model in the Maserati GranTurismo model series. NOVITEC TRIDENTE, the global leader in tuning for the automobiles from the Italian manufacturer, now offers a SUPERSPORT supercharged engine with 646 hp / 475 kW, three-piece wheels with diameters of 21 and 22 inches, a ride-height lowering by some 25 millimeters and numerous other exclusive options for the two-seater car. The combination of the ultra-powerful NOVITEC TRIDENTE engine and the lightweight-design concept of the MC Stradale results in sensational performance: 3.9 seconds from 0 - 100 km/h, 11.4 seconds to 200 km/h and a top speed of 306 km/h add even more excitement to the coupe.

Following tried and proven NOVITEC TRIDENTE tradition, a supercharger is also employed to enhance the performance of the sport model of the Maserati model range. The 4.7-liter eight-cylinder four-valve V engine drives the supercharger via a cogged belt. Maximum boost pressure is limited to 0.43 bar. To keep the charge-air temperature as low as possible, the supercharger system also includes a water-to-air intercooler connected to a dedicated water circuit with two heat exchangers that provides ideal temperatures.

The conversion, available for EUR 23,900, also includes a bigger intake manifold, larger injectors and newly calibrated mapping for the engine electronics. The new mapping coordinates the NOVITEC TRIDENTE high-performance components, and ensures a powerful and extremely linear power curve as well as exemplary engine longevity.

The central air scoop in the NOVITEC TRIDENTE hood provides the supercharged engine with an optimal amount of combustion air. The hood is optionally available made from especially lightweight clear-coated carbon fiber. For optimal venting of the engine bay the hood, which also available individually without engine conversion, features two large air vents.

To match the rear diffuser of the MC Stradale the tuner upgrades the butterfly-valve production exhaust system with two black-coated or polished tailpipes with a diameter of 105 millimeters.

The complex supercharger conversion elevates the Maserati sport model to a new performance level: with 646 hp / 475 kW at 7,500 rpm the NOVITEC TRIDENTE engine surpasses its root by 196 hp / 144.1 kW. Simultaneously peak torque grows to 624 Nm at 5,600 rpm. As is characteristic for a supercharged engine, the high-performance engine offers an extremely wide usable rev range from idle speed to the rev limiter.

In combination with the six-speed automatic transmission, whose gears are shifted either via shift paddles on the steering wheel or automatically, the tuned lightweight-construction sports car delivers excellent performance: from rest the MC Stradale shoots to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reaches a speed of 200 km/h after just 11.4 seconds. Top speed is 306 km/h but optionally available longer gearing makes speeds in excess of 330 km/h possible.

While the body of the top-of-the-line Maserati model remains unchanged with the exception of the hood, NOVITEC TRIDENTE upgrades the appearance of MC Stradale with a staggered custom-tailored tire/wheel combination that features 21-inch wheels in front and 22-inch alloy wheels on the rear axle. These staggered wheels further emphasize the wedge- shape design of the sports car.

The three-piece NOVITEC TRIDENTE NM3 wheels with five double spokes are mounted on the front axle in size 9Jx21. Size 255/30 ZR 21 Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires transfer steering, braking and cornering forces. Excellent traction on the driven axle is provided by size 315/25 ZR 22 tires mounted on size 11.5Jx22 rims.

The NOVITEC TRIDENTE ride-height lowering is specifically calibrated to the high-performance tires. Progressive sport springs lower the ride height of the coupe by some 25 millimeters, which benefits not only the MC Stradale's appearance but also its handling that due to the lower center of gravity becomes even more agile.

Naturally NOVITEC TRIDENTE also offers owners of a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale the option of tailoring their vehicles precisely to their personal preferences. Exclusive interiors are crafted to utmost perfection from the finest leather and Alcantara in any desired color.

Oh God The Sound. THE SOUND! But, yes, the color is a little off-putting. Keep the wheels (22" are a little much, but they don't hurt the look of the car) and make mine a black that looks deep enough to swim in.

Now there's a color that has no business being on a Maserati.

One goofy looking car. The color doesn't help, and that's probably my favorite color! It looks like a drunken duck that just woke up.

It looks like a giant angry duckling. I'd like it in any other color, though. And w/ different numbers. Impressive power numbers for sure, and I'd think that 3.9 claim is conservative.

Novitec may just produce some of the sickest-looking cars EVER. Not many people can tune Italian cars tastefully, but they do it right, and they do it consistently.

22 inch rubber? There was a time when 18 inches was max for a performance car and 20 was ridiculous overkill. Still, you bet it looks fresh.
