What is the best alternative to a mini van for the performance car enthusiast with a family of 4?? (New or Used)

I'd like to address the new Ford commercial where the guy behind the microphone, a.k.a. "Chris" states, "I wasn’t going to buy another car that was bailed out by our government. I was going to buy from a manufacturer that’s standing on their own: win, lose, or draw. That’s what America is about is taking the chance to succeed and understanding when you fail that you gotta pick yourself up and go back to work. Ford is that company for me.” According to Forbes Magazine, Ford didn’t file bankruptcy or get bailed out by US taxpayers, but it DID receive $5.9 billion in low-cost government loans in 2009 to overhaul its factories and bring out more fuel-efficient technology. It's bad enough that we have to put up with this collective bad-mouthing on politicians during election years, but must we now endure the hypocritical bad-mouthing in the auto industry as well, especially when so many Americans are out of jobs and the Big Three are just now starting to "get it" when it comes to price and quality? Ford should take a long, hard look in the mirror before it starts down this path. What's your take on all of this?
