Volkswagen ad shop Deutsch has prepped the first round of videos to promote the new Beetle, and there's a whole lotta shakin' high-fivin' goin' on. Set to Shirley Ellis' "The Clapping Song," the first spot shows the driver of a 2012 Bug needs to be on call for hand jiving. You'll find three of the new commercials after the jump, as well as the original "Black Betty" Super Bowl spot that's been tweaked to reveal the coupe at the end.

I love the 2nd ad! They filmed it on across the street from my apartment in Downtown Los Angeles.

For the idiots on the thread talking about this being a "gay guys" car... I'm gay and I drive a Mazda3 and a Ford F-150. The Mazda is overwhelming driven by women and I know plenty of gay men who drive one or want to drive one, does that make it a "gay car?" No. Also the F-150 that I drive because I go on construction sites is driven by women too does that make it less manly? Get over yourselves. As for the Beetle I hope fit and finish does this car justice.

Kris, I've known gays and I've known trolls. It's far better to be the former than the latter. Maybe someday you'll grow up and agree.

Wow--lots of insecure males on the boards this evening. Better get back into your trucks for a while to convince yourselves that you're real men... hahaha! I'm a guy that's similar to the one in the ad (30's, clean cut, professional) and I certainly would feel fine about driving the Beetle--it has some very clean lines with lots of character--better than many many cars on the road today. And as the turbo drives quite similar to the GTI according to early reviews, that's pretty exciting. There aren't many nice premium small cars to choose from. If you have a problem with the car's styling, I'd suggest you also tell us about your own ride and what you like about it better. There are few mainstream cars out there with such a clean and iconic look--and you certainly don't have to be gay to appreciate that. Enough of the homophobic remarks--it's so childish.

If this car was faster it might be a worthwhile vehicle, but as it stands.. it's slow as ****. 200 horses is measly and nothing in comparison to the old school turbo Beetles. Male buyers want THAT car. We don't want this awkward amalgamation. The Focus ST is going to stomp this car, and even the regular Foci are faster than this garbage. Even KIA and Hyundai are making formidable cars in this segment that have more features and offer more power! VW is dead.

You've posted pretty much the same moronic comment 3 or 4 times already in this one thread. You might want to stop trying to over-compensate - nothing like a closet homosexual trying to pretend to be outwardly "manly" and calling something "gay this" or "gay that". No one wants to hear what your insecure dumbass has to say about an inanimate object's sexuality.

If VW would just build something that didn't look like a VW it would be cool, lol! .

Not bad...gave it a wider stance and chopped the top. Side profile reminds me of an early Porsche 911. This and more horsepower? Ja, das ist gut!
