Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, along with Rolf Import, MMC's exclusive Russian distributor, and the Government of Russia's Kaluga Region signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that calls for the three parties to collaborate on several projects aimed at improving the natural environment of the Kaluga Region.
This MoU includes promotion of electric vehicles and their related infrastructure, as well as work on reducing the region's level of CO2 emissions and increasing energy efficiency in Kaluga.

Though the MOU doesn't specifically call for Mitsubishi to deploy its electric i-MiEV in Kaluga, we'd assume that's in the works too. With a prohibitively expensive retail price of 1,799,000 rubles ($61,997 U.S. at the current exchange rate), we don't think the i-MiEV will be flying off dealer lots anytime soon. There might be something the government can do about this, though, since Rolf Import claims it's the absence of subsidies that is holding back the i-MiEV in Russia.
