Having a drag strip behind your office would be both a wonderful play thing and an unyielding distraction. Hennessey Performance Design has such a delightful strip of attention-destroying asphalt at its disposal, and it uses this quarter-mile test track to examine the straight-line acceleration of its latest products. The most recent vehicle to run down this stretch is the Hennessey-tuned Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca.

According to Hennessey, the supercharged engine of this Boss 302 pumps out 650 horsepower. That's enough scoot to push the car from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, and on down the strip in 11.9 seconds with a trap speed of 124 miles per hour.

It's fast, it's loud and it's captured on video. Click past the jump for the clip.

This is a travesty, you don't molest a car built in such limited numbers.

Hennessey has been doing it for quite some time before this...

Why did Hennessey have to butcher a new, beautiful Boss 302?

Hennessey didn't have to. They were PAID to. This is someone's personal car, as are the other cars you see in other videos.

Hmmm. Take a track car designed to corner, mix in a semi shady tuner, do what any mechanic with a tool set can do - throw on a blower, and run it down a dragstrip. This is news how?

You really think that's what is involved in supercharging an engine? Wow. Just wow.

What are you talking about? Don't you know that the intake manifold fairy visits your car when you're asleep. As few mechanics are aware of this they go to the trouble of custom fabricating one when all they had to do was let the car sit there overnight.

Shoot, I hate when someone else logs in on my computer. As I was saying, supercharging doesn't usually require changing the compression ratio, but when I put a turbo in, I always make my friends buy "extra" engine parts because they think turbocharging is just as easy as supercharging - e/g some of Vortech's chargers don't even need a new intake, just another bracket & belt. Thirty minutes and some easy power, but run the PSI too high and the engine will blow.

I turbocharge (and tweak factory turbo'd) engines - not professionally, but to keep my idiot friends from blowing themselves up. Much more difficult than slapping on a blower, and tuning the ecu. Supercharging is the "easy" way out in terms of forced induction. Nitrous even easier, surprised Hennesey just doesn't do that.

Ugh, this is terrible. The beautiful thing about the Boss' are that they're so perfectly balanced; A badass blend of power, fun, and PRECISION, this stupid thing is way too powerful and totally threw that balance out of whack. to Mr. Hennessey.

I sometimes feel ashamed to live in this same country as these people. I fully understand that drag racing is popular, and some cars are designed to do so, but why do that to a Boss? The car was designed to be tracked legitimately, not striped. Hopefully the owner just decided he wanted the power boost for the track, and does so with it. Not just run it down the strip on Friday nights when it's half-price runs and hot dogs.

Why would you want to live in a world where everyone enjoyed the samething ? The beauty of cars is that is can give people the abilty to put their imagination to use. If every one ran the same car to do the same thing time and time again it would get boring. For eample you have track built skylines and then you have drag strip built skylines both are winning in my eyes. You havent ruined the car just exploring its potential in a different environment. and plus... the Boss comes with all that power... what do you honeslty think that power if for ?

You guys get the Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst and the Insignia VXR while we don't get the Commodore anymore and we get a dumbed down 220hp Buick that's supposed to be the top-of-the-line trim level for the model.

Is that question rhetorical - as in 'that's it?' - if not, think of it this way - it's more than 20% faster!

More like "thats all?". Pick up a second and void the waranty. People are running similar times on slicks. http://www.muscularmustangs.com/2011/news0486_boss_302_on_drag_strip.php
