The roadways can be a dangerous place to be, no matter what type of vehicle is moving you and yours to and fro. Though cars and trucks are getting safer year after year, the same can't necessarily be said of motorcycles. While advances like anti-lock brakes, traction control and even airbags have made modern motorcycles easier to ride, it's no surprise which vehicle generally wins when a car and a motorcycle collide.

That's where the proper safety gear comes into play. In order to maximize safety when riding on two (or three) wheels, a rider needs to cover him or herself in the full spate of riding apparel, and companies like Icon Motorsports fill that need. Thing is, motorcyclists tend to be an interesting bunch, and appealing to their sense and sensibilities isn't easy.

Hence, the video you'll see after the break.* In it, a super cool dude with a ratty Porsche 928 has locked himself firmly in the '80s and doesn't give a single thought to anyone else, including a pair of Harley-Davidson Sportster-mounted bikers, ably played by Rob Carpenter and Chris Rayburn. Mayhem ensues. Oh, and as is often the case in the real world, the motorcyclist gets the girl.

If you like the production values, check out a couple more Icon videos that we've featured on Autoblog in the past.

*Professional riders, closed course, etc.

Absolutely a crap video. Wasted 5 minutes. Besides, you deal with douchebags like that guy the first time around.

While I would love to ride a street bike, this video pretty much shows the reason why I don't. In most cases, its' not how you drive/ride but how others drive around you; and if they make one little mistake, you can end up in the morgue with a snap of finger. Especially with the way people drive around here in VA, a lot of people shouldn't even have driver license. I can only dream that there would be a day where we can ride a street bike without having to think about injuring out selves badly or even worse, all the time.

Same. I trust other motorists enough to share the road with them only if I'm surrounded in a metal cage with four contact patches.

As a motorcyclist, my solution to that conundrum is to find roads where cars are few and far between. That is not too hard to do living in the Appalachian foothills. I also have developed a sense over 20 years of riding that predicts others mistakes that most auto drivers never develop. The key is total concentration which is far easier to achieve on a motorcycle. But I doubt I would be too eager to ride in NOVA though.

Wow... that was just bad on sooooo many levels. I have a Harley and a Porsche - I've never run into anyone like that in either circle of owners!

If someone backed into my bike like that. I'd be more fired up about beating the sh*t out of the driver rather the car. I don't consider the bikers of America any more bad ass then any other driver. But I sure wouldn't wanna have my go arounds with them if I piss one/all off.

Yep. Cuz driving a Harley makes anybody a certified badass. Or so says HD's marketing department that ignores their bikes are slower, vibrate themselves apart, and piss oil all over the place.

You know... I drive motorcycles, and I find HDs completely unappealing. I also own several "import" automobiles and don't care much for baseball. By your description I'm pretty much exactly the guy that shouldn't have liked this ad. Yet somehow I found it mildly entertaining and understand none of what you just said. Go figure.

Can't believe I'm defending Harley, but it's been a long time since they were unreliable oil leakers. And please don't "drive" motorcycles, they lack steering wheel.

I have a cruiser, a GSX, and an '83 944 Porsche. I have never seen vintage Porsche owners do anything to harm their cars. If anything they drive extra careful as to not get a bug on the hood. Also, this video shows bikers to be effin' dicks...even if they were provoked. What the point is to this video- I don't know. I do know it says nothing about anyone in any sense of reality and is just made to entertain douchbags by douchbags, I guess, that find wreckin' sh#t to be cool.

My dad has a Harley. He bought it cause in the 70's, they used to be quieter, and more popular - and he is having his mid life crisis. He also has a brand new Vette Z06. One of these vehicles stays in the driveway with a for sale sign attached to them because he feels embarassed using it, due to it's noise, it's reliability, it's ride, and it's horrible ability to make everyone hate you. Guess which one it is.

If someone damages your vehicle whole you are not around, damaging theirs makes you just as bad as them. You got beef? Confront the owner. There is absolutely NO excuse for damaging a man's vehicle while he's not around. It's one of the pussiest moves ever.
