If you like Ken Block's series of Gymkhana videos, then you'll definitely want to check out Vaughn Gittin Jr's latest flick featuring his Formula Drift Mustang. Gittin was recently visiting Saudi Arabia to perform a drifting demo at an event at the Al Reem Circuit, and he decided to stick around for an extra few days to get footage of him drifting on track. The result? Awesome.

Apparently, the track officials pretty much gave Gittin free reign of the entire complex, from the pit lane to the parking lots to the front straight, so the video shows him getting his Mustang sideways in a variety of locations. There's plenty of tire smoke, wonderful sounds from the naturally aspirated 5.4L V8, and even a few smashed rear fenders. Check the video out for yourself after the jump.

This video isn't as heavily produced as some of those gymkhana videos, maybe not as "cool", but damn... That sound is outstanding. I have to say, I appreciated the simplicity. IMO, this Monster/Ford car is better to watch/hear than Mr. Block's. Of course, it IS designed specifically to spew smoke while going sideways and making an unholy racket. Go figure.

There's nothing like the sound of a big V8! Love it. I think they'll be gone by the time I get old... which is fine. I imagine somebody 100 years ago sorrowfully anticipated the loss of steam engines. It reminds me of that line from the Road Warrior. "The last of the V8 interceptors! A piece of history!"

Actually, his 2011 drift Mustang has a naturally aspirated 5.4L V8.

This drifting fad can't die out fast enough IMHO. Utter waster of horsepower and tires.

Angelo, I couldn't agree with you more. You might add an utter waste of lungs as they fill up with rubber smoke. I would never watch one of these events in a stadium. People, what are you thinking?

You can think that all you want but that right there is talent... Pure control of a 3 ton car being slung around a corner sideways and still not wrecking it is something that most people couldn't do on a level as a Ken Block or Gittin. RESPECT son... Show it! lol

You have to love the sound of that V8 wailing down the track. That is just mean. Hell you don't even need a horn on the car with an engine like that, just slam down the throttle and watch everyone move out the way. Vaughn Gittin Jr. drifted that Mustang like a champ. Loved it!

Really? Because even though I'm a big fan of Ken Block, I haven't seen him win any major motorsports titles like Vaughn has done with the 2010 Formula D Championship. He's also the only American to win a D1GP event.

What is that Logo on the Red Mustang at the end of the video? Looks like RTR? Is that a special badge stang?
