DeLorean DMC-12 'Time Machine'– Click above to view video after the jump

Synth pop project Owl City, the brainchild of Minnesota's own Adam Young, recently released the video for its new single, "Deer in the Headlights." In addition to some pretty cool CGI, the video resonates with us because in it, Young pilots a Back to the Future DeLorean replica.

Time travel doesn't happen until the end, when he inexplicably goes to 2015 and meets an alien. Other than that, the video is just a dude singing to himself tooling around in a 1985 DeLorean DMC-12 time machine. It's not "Wires" by Red Fang, but it's still pretty cool. Check out the video after the jump.

Really AutoBlog? A 1985 Delorean? They stopped production in 1983 and even those were just left-over 1982 models.

A company in Texas is re-manufacturing Deloreans from new parts and re-used bodies. You can buy one today.

Susan, Harvey is referring to the fact that the original DeLorean Motor company went bust in late 1982 and though some DeLoreans carried 1983 VIN numbers as Harvey said even they were manufactured in 1982. There are and never have been any 1984, 1985, etc. Deloreans. The company you speak of formed in 1995 subsequently bought the DMC name, trademark, logo, and remaining parts inventory. They started building "new" cars in 2008 but they still use old VINs and uni-bodies from the original run of cars so aren't as much new as they are restored; 80% original 20% new, according to them. Autoblog confused the dates of the movie with that of the actual car production, a very very common mistake, but still not one an auto-enthusiast site should be making. That would then make it a 2010 or 2011 though, not an '85.

This guy is tone-deaf. And that's a bad Back to the Future Delorean replica. There are plenty of them out there that are true-to-the-movie examples out there. Just look at the flux capacitor. Looks nothing like the one in the movie.

Owl City is a perfect example of the death of good music. It baffles me as to why anyone would want to listen to such utter crap.

I have to say I preferred the DeLorean's cameo in the recent Beastie Boys video.

I agree 100%. I also think that dude should have kept his job as a janitor or w/e he did before he started spewing these crappy songs out.

I find it ironic that Adam Young wasn't even born until July 5, 1986. He must have seen 'Back to the Future' on BluRay one weekend.

Just saw him and Lights (the girl behind the counter) in concert a couple weeks ago. I'm actually wearing my shirt with a line from this song in it. Random note, that's not an alien he almost hits at the end, watch his "alligator sky" music video.

Video's not as clever at the lyrics, but still great! "Met girl in the parking lot and all I did was say hello. Her pepper spray made it rather hard to walk her home.... But I guess that's the way it goes." Hahahahahah
