Subaru WRX flips on track – Click above to watch the video after the break

Our brothers from the Great White North happened across a video featuring a few extremely evil hay bales. How evil? Really evil. Like so evil that you would say it was E-VEEL, like they are the FRU-ETS of the DEV-EEL.

So evil, in fact, that these compressed bunches of overgrown grass decided to reach out and grab a passing Subaru at Toronto Motorsports Park during a Canadian Sport Compact Series time trial event. See what we mean? E-VEEL.

Apparently, this particular JDM Subaru WRX had been "borrowed" from its owner, who was on vacation. And since you can actually hardly fault the hay bales themselves, we're guessing this driver, who was not seriously injured in the accident, is gonna have some serious 'splaining to do when the Subie's owner gets back home.

Check out the video in all its gruesome glory after the break, but beware of some potentially NSFW language.

So much fail to choose from my favorite 5 seconds was when the unhelmeted chick that was a passenger in the red Integra getting out of car in flip flops, not looking behind her, and taking off towards accident. So Many Things Wrong

No one wearing helmets and spectators on the outside of the curve?

So the track would allow no helmets, spectators within arms reach of cars on track and where was the emergency crew? Who coordinated the event? I did see some people with helmets... some people with sense at least.

The girl in black shorts and white top is hot. Well for side of the road, track where people don't even wear helmets, she can pass as hot.

If you ever have to say "she can pass as hot" about any woman anywhere... she's not hot. Haha!

Why were the haybales there in the first place? The idea of haybales to absorb energy depends upon their ability, yet reluctance to move. If they're up against the wall, all they do is effectively move the wall further into the track.

Wow, a safety device turned deadly.

I'm pretty sure you can't call something "deadly" when no one was even seriously injured... Tornadoes are "deadly" when some people die, a robbery is "deadly" when someone gets shot and dies, a tree is NOT "deadly" when someone falls from it and breaks their arm.

It was an anyone-can-run track day, not a racing series. I've been to these a few times running but more often than not just spectating. They're organized by www.touge.ca who organize the vast majority of track days in southern Ontario. Other than this WRX hitting the hay, the only other time I've seen anything like that happen was back in May 2010 where a Porsche nailed the wall right there too.

so it's in canada, that explains it. I couldn't figure out how any track in the US could be insured and NOT require helmets for track day events above 30mph.

Proximity AND number of cars on track fail....remind me never to attend any track days in canada. This is a disgrace and clear evidence of why track days are becoming more expensive. 10 bucks says the clown ( who could have corected his understeer by lifting off the throttle, but then again, its a wrx and that's it only party trick) will sue the track.... what a F@#kwit. Here in aus, must have helmet, no more than 10-12 cars on a track at once, must have ambulance/med team/recovery vehicle. no passing on corners. If it's a competetive event, must have cage and full firesuit. all cars must have fire extinguisher regardless...our track days cost upwards of $600 U.S for a day....and they show videos of idiots like this group at the beginning to explain why it's so expensive. Crowd control fail, would have been easy for the subie to flip on to that wall and take out the retards standing next to it....good to see the beer cups in their hands though...

It's Canada. He won't sue the track because it's too difficult to sue anyone here.

What kind of redneck white trash track is this? People line up on the wall that the track runs up against, and can put their hands over? No helmets? People getting out of their cars? Some dude in an intergra has his bitch wearing flip flops on the track with him? What next they let the ricers run the dragstrip too? For the love of god, shut this place down.

Has anyone ever watched a rally race? I mean, I'm not saying these kids are curing cancer, but I've seen race after race people standing on the edge of some gravel mountain road... but rally drivers never wreck so...

Seriously? What about the hay bales is evil? I think this articles title, and the article itself, is quite misleading--literally, the hay bales don't move or do ANYTHING the entire video. It is actually a video of a driver flying WELL-outside the racing line of everyone else in front of him and smashing into some hay bales that he could clearly see....this is just like all those "evil" phone poles and trees on the side of Sunset boulevard in LA? They're always "reaching out" and hitting cars...
