Bumblebee shills for Chevrolet – Click above to watch video after the jump

On July 1, 2011, Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon will hit theaters around the country. When it does, one automaker in particular will be smiling, as its vehicles take center stage in the film. As it did in previous installments of the mega-popular movie series, General Motors cars and trucks make up a large portion of the cars and trucks seen on the TF3 screen. Chevrolet is jumping on the tie-in, and a new ad has popped up showing the Bumblebee Camaro in action.

While your own real-life Bumblebee Camaro can't save you from an invasion of angry, shape-shifting robots, it might just protect you in a real-life shunt. Click past the jump to watch the "real" Bumblebee show off the Bowtie badge in Chevy's new "Getaway" spot – you might even catch a glimpse of a speedster version of the 50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray concept.

I understand the side gills on the rear quarters are inspired by the first gen Camaro, but the vents and character line on the Camaro in the video look much better to me.

Hey, when does the article get to the part about why Chevy would drop the ad? Did they drop it because someone found it controversial? Or is the headline writer just using the word "Drop" in a stupid way that seems to have become annoyingly trendy? If they "drop" this ad, and it doesn't do well, will they drop the ad agency who created it? And does that mean that they'll debut that ad agency? If my local movie theater drops transformers 3, does that mean it's starting or that... they're dropping it and playing something else? Oh right, I don't care.

They're trying to be as cool as Carson Daly by copping his lingo.

Just one problem... Carson Daly was never, ever considered cool.

"Chevrolet is jumping on the tie-in, and a new ad has popped up showing the Bumblebee Camaro in action." "Drops" as in "releases".

"Stupid" as in "fine for use as the release date of a hip hop album, but misleading when used in a blog headline for something where 'drop' has a more obvious meaning".

That is your opinion, but I am quite sure there aren't rules out there for what words Autoblog must use so people understand an entry title. I got it the first time, so I might be missing the point.

Ugh. I'll never watch any film by Michael Bay, Stephen Sommers and Robert Rodriguez ever again!

Talk about catering to the lowest common denominator.

Wonder if this Bumblebee is still a fabbed GTO from the original movie, or if they actually redid a Camaro off the production line...
