The ramp designed to propel Hot Wheels' mystery driver to world record glory at the 100th Indianapolis 500 is starting to take shape. The ramp doesn't look quite like it did in Hot Wheels' original rendering, but it's still an enormous and terrifying structure. Don't believe us? Check out a full gallery of the ramp on the speedway's Flickr page.

Hot Wheels' goal is to propel a winged off-road truck 302 feet through the air, which would clinch the world record for distance. The death-defying stunt will kick off the excitement at next weekend's Indy 500.

Why do I feel like Travis Pastrana's jump was still way cooler? :-/

Lewis, Lewis, Lewis. First he blames Schumi and the STR drivers for blocking him in Spain. then his Q3 time is invalid because he skipped a corner. When he get penalized for running into Massa at the hairpin, he says Massa turned into him. Then he gets that 20 second penalty for hitting Maldonado, and he plays the race card. The stewards are out to get him cause he's black. Stay classy, Lewis. Nothing is ever your fault, is it? Wonder how long McLaren will want to put up with his constant complaining. He says he'll stay quiet the rest of the season but we all know better, don't we.

saw it this past weekend during quals...and i've only got one observation: the run-off is REALLY short. on the other hand, its gonna be great to see someone pick up where milk'n'donuts left off - you know, garner a lot of attention, struggle to get up to speed quickly enough, and end up as a big smoldering pile of shattered car parts and broken dreams.

It's just distance. We're not in the era where people still jump busses or helicopters.

We have yet to see if this is a "death defying" stunt.
