Audi R18 TDI race cars qualify 1-2-3 at Spa – Click above for high-res image gallery

Audi's newest diesels are running strong. A trio of R18 TDI race cars have qualified 1-2-3 at the Le Mans Cup 1,000km of Spa. It should be noted, of course, that Peugeot's cars didn't get the chance to set qualifying times due to a red flag that ended the session for all teams.

Despite the lack of pressure from the French oil-burners, this is a strong debut showing for the new Audi R18 racers. We expect to see some exciting competition between the Audis and the 908s come race day.

Well, more like some cool video of the event. It does not have commentary or reveal critical details.

Guys, have some self respect and DO NOT publish qualifying results as news AFTER the actual race has ended.

Amazingly, 16 hours after the race has finish, Autoblog still leads with qualification result. That's either editorial negligence of the Nth kind or it's actually an advertising for Audi. From now on, don't take Autoblog reviews of Audis (VWs) seriously.

Congratulations on winning Dumbest Comment of the Weekend... The article was written last week, but didn't make it into the regular news rotation - so we ran it over the weekend when news is lighter. No automakers BUYS articles or reviews...

They might qualify 1-2-3, but them Pugs creams them in the race from the back of the grid. Cant wait for lemans!!!

You're right...by LeMans the sanctioning body will appropriately cripple the Audis if they win at Spa. The Pugs seem to be better at working to cripple their adversaries rather than race them.

Like RobbieJR pointed out the race is already over and Peugeot, not Audi had the winning car. I believe the qualifying happened yesterday.

Anyone know if this will be broadcast in the western US? Specifically California?

It was streamed online here: http://www.race-rally.be/2011/1000km2011/spalive.aspx?type=live Mainly in french and sprinkled with other languages. Michelin also had running updates posted here: http://www.lemanslive.com/en/classements-en-direct-live-time-position/ The Pugs are still quick... LeMans will be a great battle again!

the race was already broadcast. Peugeot's website had live feeds from onboard each of their cars. And a 'race feed' focused around their team.
