Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon trailer – Click above to watch video after the jump

Summer is right around the corner, and that means theaters will soon be packed with the kind of action-slathered goodness that theater-goers crave. King of explosions Michael Bay has released the latest theatrical trailer for his new boomfest, Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. Judging by the short clip, the whole crew is in for another sequel-baiting adventure. Bumblebee returns as the world's most fearsome Chevrolet Camaro and Optimus Prime seems to have received a crash course in badassery since the last time we saw him grace the silver screen.

For reasons that remain unclear, the Prime has yet to punt Shia Labeouf into another galaxy, so fans can look forward to enduring him throughout the span of the film. Labeouf's new co-star Rosie Huntington-Whitley seems to do a smart enough job of looking equal parts damsel and distressed. The film hits theaters on May 1, so you don't have long to wait before you can sink your teeth into the action. Hit the jump to check out the trailer for yourself.

That blimp moving in over the Chicago River looks like a Protoss Carrier. From this trailer, it really looks like Michael Bay took the criticism of Transformers 2 to heart. The robots whirl every so slightly more slowly and the shots containing them spinning are shot less tightly and the resulting effect is now you actually can see what is happening in the "robot fighting" shots. I'm still highly skeptical, if only because Laboef's presence is usually a harbinger of a bad time. Besides, if you want action we've got Fast Five and it's currently the 2nd highest rated wide-release film on rottentomatoes (after Source Code). Finally, it still bothers me that Optimus Prime isn't a cabover.

Agree with you completely. You're the first person I've ever seen who made mention of O.P. not being true to the original cabover model.

Somehow, I'm not squealing from excitement like I would normally be. It just seems like it's trying too hard. Maybe I also miss Megan Fox.

The first two movies were both unimaginably awful. They were objectively bad. To say you liked them is to say you have no taste and I assume anyone who enjoys them also enjoys ketchup and mayonnaise sandwiches.

These movies are much better than what the stupid F&F series has become.

That is because you are too critical. Sit back and enjoy the action and the amazing CG. That is what Transformers always was about. ACTION!

Oy, and nothing wrong with the sandwiches. You know how you get tired of the oysters, tunas etc and end up wanting something else? Good ole ketchup and/ mayonnaise sandwich fixes that easily...

Oh my god! Please don't say you've watched these movies hoping for a decent plot/story? Come on! This sort of movies is your typical no-brainer for evenings with nothing to do and your brain basically to tired to want to watch anything engaging. It's like eating popcorn - totally meaningless, yet sometimes enjoyable.

I'm sorry not all of us want to see Schindler's List every time we go to the theater, EnzoHonda. For my part, I think the first one was a decent opening act that the sequel completely failed to support. Rumors have this new one taking place after the Decepticons take control of the planet; sounds like a decent premise to me! Finally it's not just 6-on-6 giant-robots-nobody-knows-about action.

Micheal Bay should be banned from making movies.
