Ferrari has started offering a free, seven-year maintenance plan for customers in Europe. The plan covers all 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia, California Spyder or FF models bought at an authorized Prancing Horse dealership. For now, the program is only available across the pond, but will make it to these shores later in the year.

According to Ferrari, the plan is attached to each individual car, which means it's transferable to different owners if the vehicle is sold within its first seven years. Coverage includes the cost of labor and original replacement parts, as well as oil and brake fluid.

When the program goes global, Ferrari says it will be the first maintenance plan of its kind to be offered around the world. With any luck, the new perk will help Ferrari gain back some consumer confidence after the the bad publicity surrounding the 458 Italia's annoying propensity to burst into flames. General maintenance for first seven years of the car's life
Geneva sees the introduction of an innovative service for all new Ferrari owners.


With effect from March in Europe, and on other markets during the course of the year, clients ordering a Ferrari California, 458 Italia or FF from the authorised dealership network will be entitled to a free seven-year standard maintenance programme.

Genuine Maintenance is Ferrari's exclusive service that ensures that its cars are maintained to the highest level for maximum performance and safety.

The programme is unique – this is the first time a car manufacturer offers such cover worldwide and is evidence of the attention paid by Ferrari to its clients.

The Genuine Maintenance programme covers the individual vehicle, and thus extends to any eventual subsequent owner.

The programme covers the workmanship for the programmed maintenance along with the relative original spare parts, engine oil and brake fluid.

The advantage to the owner is the assurance that the vehicle will be subject to regular annual inspection by Ferrari-trained personnel using factory-approved dedicated diagnostic equipment.

      I don't see where it is implied that this is free. I think it's probably a pre-paid plan. Not cheap. Main benefits are to help resale and give second owners piece of mind.

      Sweet. Although it won't make much of a difference to many of the wealthy owners buying these cars new, those of us aspiring to get a model 5+ years after the fact have a bit of a bonus to look forward to. Especially if the previous owner of the car was inclined to thrash it a bit... :-)

      I think this is amazing. Having the money to buy one of these things in the first place is hard, but it becomes MUCH harder if you factor in maintenance. This puts them in slightly closer reach.
