Bloomberg reports that Ford Global Marketing Director Elena Ford (great-great-granddaughter of Henry Ford) has plead guilty to Driving Under the Influence of alcohol, saying the incident has been a "complete embarrassment" to her family. The Ford family heiress was arrested on April 4 after failing a sobriety test and registering a .14 on a breathalyzer; nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Michigan. Police pulled Ford over after she reportedly jumped the median in in her 2011 Ford Explorer. The Michigan court sentenced the 44-year-old Ford to two years' probation, 240 hours of community service and mandatory counseling. Ford was originally also charged with child endangerment since she had her 11-year-old son in the car. [Source: Bloomberg]

Hmm...the impression given here and via her wikipedia is that she isn't a very impressive person and didn't make it to her position at Ford Motor Company without a healthy dose of nepotism. If Ford were taking a poll, I'd vote, "Fire her."

I think people should be careful not to cast stones. The Ford family and Elena give millions and emplo hundreds of thousands- in addition to not taking money from the Government. Everyone deserves a break that gives and gives. I think we all break the law a few times a day while driving- thank goodness all is ok. I also believe tremendous respect should be shown for Mrs. Ford in that she did not try to lawyer herself out of her mistake. Go Ford, Go Elena and have a wonderful Easter.

So, in your opinion, you think that Ford not accepting government bailout money justifies her drinking and driving, while at the same time, endangering her child?

So in your opinion, you think that Ford not accepting government bailout money justifies her drinking and driving, while at the same time, endangering her child? That is one of the stupidest things I ever heard. If she had any other name that wasn't Ford, she would have been fired. Drinking and driving is simply irresponsible.

Yea I probably break the law everyday during my commute. I can see how driving 10mph over the speed limit is the same as driving while being twice the legal limit, WITH YOUR CHILD IN THE CAR. I don't care what they give it's not excuse for endangering the lives of your own child and innocent people on the roadway. You'd probably be singing a different tune if she crashed head on into one of your family members and killed them.
