Autoblog Podcast #225 features Chris Shunk, Zach Bowman, Chris Paukert and Dan Roth. We start with Ward's Auto's ten best interiors for 2011, speculate about the Subaru XV concept and a Jaguar SUV before contemplating what one million U.S. Prius sales means. Your feedback in our Q&A module winds us up, and we've embedded that in the post below, as well. Thanks for listening, we'll see you next week!

The Mercury Marauder's problem was the 'crazy' tire size choice.
      Front was 245/45 18 rear was 245/ 55 18.
Yes, that hugely different tire size was strictly for appearance. The large rear wheel ate up any gains the 3.55 axle brought.

But you don't have to keep 245/55 18 in the rear... 245/50 18 all around, or even 245/45 18 if you are feeling daring.

I forgot, Ford actually put 235/50 18 on the front (which had the same 8x18" wheels)
So to fix the biggest problem, gearing, just use 245/45 18 all around (that is roughly a 7.5% change in gearing).
That stops you from being smoked by a contemporary Accord V6!
Did it really need the supercharged 2 valve 4.6 V8 from the Marauder convertible concept?

Could one really expect more than a 4 speed automatic from Ford in 2003?
One should be so lucky that they just upgraded TO rack & pinion steering, and there were no rear drum brakes to be found.

No, the Marauder's problem was that it came out half-baked
