We've been hearing about Adam Carolla's The Car Show for months, and we can now confirm that the show has been picked up by SPEED Channel. The folks at SPEED dropped us a line to let us know that the show has been picked up for 13 episodes, with an option for 13 more. The hour-long show, which is scheduled for a July premiere, will be hosted by Adam Carolla, super auto journalist Dan Neil, former NBA player John Salley and Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire. SPEED hasn't even released a press release yet, but we'll get something official once the show's July production schedule is fleshed out.

We told you back in December that Carolla's show will feature news and car conversations plus the typical pre-recorded features. And don't get too attached to The Car Show as the show's name, as SPEED tells us that there is a good chance it will change. The show will be produced by Mandt Bros. Productions.

We're not sure how this show will turn out, but you can bet that we'll be watching when it hits the airwaves in July.

I just started listening to the CarCast- wondered why it took me so long.

      It is great.

One more crappy show from what used to be the best channel on TV. Speed will become a nothing channel just like TNN did. The only good shows are My Classic Car, Hot Rod TV, Gearz, Speed Report, Dave Despain, any sports car race and the replays of Austalian V8's. NASCAR is such a joke anymore it's not worth watching.

Oh come on.. you didnt like their Nascar themed cooking show?!?!?!? lol

I will stick to American Top Gear, thank you very much. I do not know why SPEED didn't pick that one up, but History Channel does give it an interesting flavour. I am looking forward to the second season.

I do not want to see any show with Adam Carolla in it. There is too much stupidity on television already.

Because its boring? SPEED should just pick up Top Gear UK if BBC would let them. Then we americans would see all the great cars the govt wont let us import. Not to mention laugh our asses off.

And don`t forget that it sucks ,That might have something to do with it.

And for the theme song, Adam Corolla could use "The Car-Car Song" , by Pete Seeger as the theme!

I have a name for them: Fifth Gear US

while I'm sure some fears about the show being cheesy or like The Best Damn Sports Show are realistic, some fears about Carolla are based on ignorance. Carolla isn't a muscle car or NASCAR guy, he's into italian sports cars and races Datsuns. He's been to Le Mans, prefers road racing to track, etc. Comedy is his profession, but cars are his passion, and I'm sure he'll be a great host. If the show is terrible, it's more likely to be because of bad writing and production.

I wonder how this will compare to Top Gear USA

I wonder how it will compare to Top Gear Britian. My guess it won't. The US version pales in coparison.

Better. Pretty much has to be. The only thing worse is stabbing my eyes out with a spork. Wait. Hrm. That might be better too.

Thank you Top Gear USA, for being just good enough to show the TV execs that there is a market for cars shows outside of Motorweek, and for being just mediocre enought to rile up Adam Carolla.

Exactly. This is why i had a good feeling this show would be picked up.

Now I just hope and pray that SPEED posts the episodes online after they've been aired so I actually get to see it.

They will never top Top Gear

I have an idea for a new show. It should stir just as much interest. The proper way to use a porta potty.

This is great news! He should have been on American TG but this will be the bomb.
      Go Adam!
