Autocar rides shotgun in the Caparo T1 – Click above to watch video after the jump

The Caparo T1 is the devil on four wheels. There are widespread tales of the T1 attempting to harm anyone who tries to tame it. Autocar must've heard these stories and decided to leave the driving to two-time Formula One World Champion Mika Hakkinen.

The T1's unusual layout allows for a passenger to ride slightly behind the driver. That's the vantage point from which Autocar magazine's Mark Tisshaw took in the action. His narrative is a bit dry, but we're assuming that's because Hakkinen and the Caparo fried his senses. Click past the jump to watch footage of a Caparo T1 not harming anyone. Thanks for the tip, Tim!

I wonder if I got this in Blue and let Red Bull put a nice big logo on the side, they'd pitch in a couple hundred grand to help out..

I didn't even realize this car was still being developed. Its been so long since I've heard anything new about it I had just assumed it had gone the way of so many super car upstarts before it.

It takes a special kind of journalist to make the T1 look dull. I think he's just that special though. It sounds like he's discussing budgetary appropriations. Plus, Goodwood is not the place for the T1. Goodwood is for going 6/10ths in a classic or hooning a works Mini around. The T1 needs room to breathe.

Other than feeling some of those ponies through a gear or two at a time, that didn't look like much of a sampling to me... mid-corner pulling well over 1g is where it would blow minds.

I feel this video should have been better than that but it may have required blood or bones breaking so...ok this one will do...until someone takes the T1 flatout around Silverstone or other (Nords?).

A lot of people dislike the T1 due to all the teething problems it had, but screw them. That is one amazing machine, and Id donate a nut to drive in one. And sell both to own one.

...So who is going to take care of your lady? :)

The video is kinda boring to be honest. That course wasn't the best for showing what a car like this is truly capable of. Awesome car no doubt, but neither Hakkinen or the car were anywhere close to their full potential.
