Top Gear China – Click above to view video after the jump

It's been talked about for months, and now it's here: Top Gear China recently aired its first episode, joining the original Top Gear UK, Top Gear America, Top Gear Australia and Top Gear Russia. The Chinese spin-off follows the same format as every Top Gear franchise, sporting three energetic hosts, silly challenges and a studio audience made up of attractive girls and trendy-looking dudes.

We have no idea what the hosts are saying, but it looks as if the banter of the original three Top Gear hosts is alive and well in China, and we only hope they fire back off-color jokes about Brits. It would only be fair, after all.

The first episode of Top Gear China includes a comparison test between a Cadillac and a donkey, apparently to see which is better at making corn meal. The idea is hilarious, and from what we can tell, the execution doesn't disappoint. Click past the jump for the fist 15 minutes of Top Gear China.

Did anyone notice the intro graphics still have the silhouettes of the UK hosts?

I wish real Top Gear would take on a series of challengers in China/HK, that would be pretty interesting.

USA failed to copy top gear
Australia failed to copy top gear
Why the f*&k does China think they can make it work?? Make a Top Gear for your country thats fine, but be original, Seeing a chinese/Aus/USA version of Jeremy, James and Richard is just plain tachy, good recipe for disaster I think.

He wrote a book about the Odyssey?

All the other (non-UK) Top Gears that didn't work are from English speaking countries. The ones that have been successful, like Russia are from countries that don't speak English.

What's with the hair on the one guy?

Wow weak sauce. Whats even worse is the people who think this is better than top gear USA. No, none will be as good as the UK but this crap is too far.

        Are you Chinese?

Do you understand what they're saying?

Then you are entitled to your opinion
      they just kidding themselves....
I can't understand a damn thing they're saying... But the show is STILL better than the American version.

I'm sure there's a version with Chinese subtitles.

You know, for those Chinese who don't speak Mandarin, but instead speak Cantonese, Taiwanese, or some other dialect.

Or Japanese / Korean / Vietnamese / etc. who can read Chinese, even if they don't speak it.

Chinese subtitles are *very* common in Asian markets, providing a huge "bang-for-the-buck" in accessibility.

Of course, if you were hoping for *English* subtitles, that might be more of a problem...

Everyone's entitled to their opinion Kornrad.

I like it better because they are not trying to relate to me by letting fat, old people drive nonchalantly, cars I would kill to drive.
I really hate to see them drag their feet when driving, but trying so hard to be funny funny when reading their lines.

Except Tanner Foust, he is awesome and should totally stay in the show.

Anyone know of a version with subtitles?

Top Gear USA FTW!!! What cars will the Chinese test, their 99% knock-offs? I call b.s.
Yeah, because Top Gear UK only tests British cars, and Top Gear USA only tests US cars.
I'm actually kinda excited to see what kind of hilarious things they'll do with Chinese cars since we basically never get to know much about them. Personally I think it'd be hilarious to see the track time of a Geely up on the same board as a Porsche.

I'm pretty sure Cadillac is American.

"studio audience made up of attractive girls and trendy-looking dudes."
Really? I've only ever seen dorky looking guys and girls with crooked teeth on TG UK.
Yeah when I read that I started wondering whether they'd ever seen Top Gear UK since I remember plenty of pale and pudgy guys standing around lol.

i don't particularly like top gear china, but the chemistry is certainly there.

i am chinese and i understood every word, i just don't think top gear china will ever be as good as the original.

the way that they used the silhouettes of clarkson, hammond and may is really annoying and they should have put their own silhouettes in to replace them, or make up their own theme song.

other than that, still better than top gear USA atleast
