Tommy Milner Need For Speed Shift 2: Unleashed lap – Click above to view video after the jump

Tommy Milner made his mark driving for BMW Rahal Letterman in last year's ALMS series alongside Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner. Together, they won the team and manufacturer championships in the ALMS GT Class.

Milner also managed to win the Dubai 24 Hour race overall in the Need For Speed BMW Z4. This year, Milner's behind the wheel of the Compuware GT2 Corvette C6.R, and managed 3rd in class at Sebring.

To promote Need For Speed Shift 2: Unleashed, Milner took some hot laps of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca driving a GT1 Corvette C6.R. Without any driving aids, Milner laid down a 1:21.709 lap, just two seconds behind the GT1 lap record of 1:19.304. Click past the jump to check out a video of Milner's lap.

Awesome video. Can't wait to see Chris Rado and Vaughn Gitten, Jr. do these videos. I wanna know if JR's RTR-X is in this game.

@Elmo: every team NFS car is in the game, including the RTR-X, even Darren McNamara's rotary 86, which isn't completed yet in real life.

No post lap interview . I would have liked to hear what he has to say. I so bad want to invest in a setup like this but not until I hear unbiased feedback from different drivers and on both consoles including the competition (gt5). Just to see who likes what better and for what reasons. As I already own both consoles . I just haven't jumped on dedicating a room and setup for either system or game yet.

If you're considering getting a Fanatec 911 wheel you might as well go all the way and get the Clubsport Pedals. The load cell brake and build quality are better than any consumer level pedals on the market. If you already own both consoles the 911 GT2 wheel, whenever it's back in stock, (or a used 911 Turbo S wheel), will work with both so you don't have to limit yourself to one game if you want some variety. It is expensive but if you enjoy sim racing on consoles that much it's worth the investment. Just make sure you also have some kind of wheel stand or a very stable table to clamp the wheel onto.

i recommend a logitech G27 racing wheel. The best wheel out there by far (only works on PS3 and PC unfortunately). I used to have Forza 3, now i have GT5. i think Forza is way better than GT5. Itll be pricey but the best setup would be Forza motorsport 3 with a fanatecPorsche 911 GT2 wheel, and logitech g27 pedals.

Something tells me that I'll have to buy a brand new machine to run it, but I like :)

Using my crappy Microsoft wheel, I was able to crank out a 1:23:89 on Forza...That was after 10 laps and alot of swearing!
O did 1.20.123 With a G25 on PC. I didnt do any tuning the car btw. Add me on autolog if you dont believe :)

I was off your time by like .10 seconds or more.

That's a great lap, having a proper equipment really makes a difference.

Color me skeptical but that in game footage looks like the replay video to me; not what he was seeing on the monitor. That would account for some of the delay between steering input and the car turning.

The engine sounds and graphics are awesome, cant wait to buy this. But no matter how cool it is, GT5 is in my opinion the best game ever because they have all types of cars, not just racing.

Shift 2 also has production cars, old and new. Fully customizable.

They haven't released the whole car list yet but already I'm much more excited about it than I am about GT5's car list. Yeah I like collecting the Standards but I feel like they missed on a lot of relevant Premium cars that came out after Prologue, like the Scirocco, RS Megane, Focus RS, etcetera.

I've never seen anyone on the brakes starting down from the top of the Corkscrew, hard enough to make the rotors glow, like in the screen cap. That would mean they would have been standing on the brakes through the turn... odd.

But, hey, it's a game, right?
Brakes tend to take a while before cooling, especially if the car isn't moving fast enough for enough air to be rushed through the brake ducts.

Now all it needs is a manual gearbox to make it way more fun. And then thats as real as it gets.
Now I need to try this in Forza when I get home.

Let us know your lap time! :)

What game are you playing? Since each one is going to have different physics models they aren't actually entirely comparable.
I gotta admit, that main screencap with the glowing brakes got me excited right off the bat!

.... and for a second, I took a double-take and thought at first that was a real life photo at Laguna Seca.

Man, I can't wait to get this game. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one.

Looks pretty exciting. Wish I had a setup like that at home.
