In a study conducted by Brandchannel, a company that tracks product placement in movies, Ducati tied for second with Audi behind Apple as the most-recognized brand. The recognition isn't surprising, given Ducati's supporting roles in Tron Legacy, Knight and Day, Takers and The Expendables, among other recent films.

Ducati says that the response it received for a Hypermotard's role in Knight and Day has been phenomenal. (Nevermind that some of the more dangerous stunts were performed on an Aprilia SXV 550 because the Hypermotard was deemed too heavy.)

Ducati being Ducati, officials swear they don't pay for any of the product placement they enjoy in Hollywood. Producers choose their bikes for movies because the brand is so well recognized and prestigious. Hmmm...

What they don't mention is that 90% of those polled thought it was a drink you order with a lime.

It does have a beak, down to the nostrils and all. Funky lookin bike.

Woah, what's with the beak? It resembles a mecha-rooster.

I want mine to be reliable... and be more like my Honda.

I don't want to take anything away from them because they obviously make some sick bikes, but I don't buy for even 1/2 a second that average consumers see Ducati as recognizable in movies as brands such as Apple or Audi.

Maybe among gearheads, or maybe in Italy, but not the general public. No way.

"Ducati says that the response it received for a Hypermotard's role in Knight and Day has been phenomenal. "

That too sounds improbable. Few people watches the movie, and 70% were female.

        This 'study' is bogus.

dont you know, the world's entire movie-going audience is made up of gearheads and italians...

Great bikes, but no. Not even close.

as bogus as your comment. How are you determining that the study is bogus?
I'd need more info on how the study was done and how they measured "recognition" to make any judgement on this. Seriously, Apple in first and Audi tied for second? Where's Coke (world's most recognized brand) where's Mercedes (world's most recognized auto-maker)? Is it simply that these brands aren't featured as much in films?

Against a brand like Apple? Nah, not buying it. iPod vs. 848, which do you think people would know more?
