2011 JTGrey Racing Lexus LX 570 SCORE truck – Click above for high-res image

Toyota is putting its full backing behind the JTGrey Racing Lexus LX 570 again this year as the team looks for a repeat in the 2011 SCORE Stock Full Championship. Last year, driver Joe Bacal piloted a very similar LX 570 to the overall championship.

This version of the LX 570 proves you can turn just about anything into a SCORE truck and instantly make it 100 percent cooler. This LX sport-ute has been permanently relieved of soccer practice and Whole Foods duty, and now sports a healthy lift and 37-inch rollers to keep the vitals off the ground.

In last year's championship, Bacal drove the 5.7-liter V8-powered LX to victory at the Las Vegas 300, the San Felipe 250, the Baja 1000 Races and nabbed second in the Baja 500. Bacal's 2011 season started this past weekend at the SCORE Mastercraft San Felipe 250, but Bacal finished outside the points. The next round of the season runs from June 3-5 at the Baja 500. Hit the jump for the official press blast.

2011 Lexus LX570 JTGREY Race Truck

• Lexus LX 570 Proves to be a Capable Luxury Utility Vehicle and Race Winner
• Joe Bacal Charges after 2011 SCORE Stock Full Championship

TORRANCE, Calif. – March 3, 2011 – Lexus announced today it will be the primary sponsor for the JTGrey Racing team and its LX 570 flagship luxury utility vehicle in the quest to win the 2011 SCORE Stock Full Championship.

"The JTGrey Racing team demonstrates just how capable, reliable and durable the Lexus LX 570 is," said David Nordstrom, vice president of marketing, Lexus division. "It's exciting to see the LX 570 conquer the rugged and extreme desert terrains with the same nimbleness and dexterity it has when it navigates city streets. Its off-road mastery combined with its powerful 5.7-liter V8 are sure to be a winning combination again this year."

Last season, sophomore off-road racer Joe Bacal and his JTGrey Racing team piloted the LX 570 to victory taking the 2010 SCORE Stock Full Championship. Along the way, the team took first place in the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, SCORE Terrible's Las Vegas Primm 300, the MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250, and Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 races. The team placed second in the Tecate SCORE Baja 500

"Last year the JTGrey team had an unbelievable racing season," said Bacal. "We are prepared for the new challenges this season will bring. We'll be racing harder and faster with Lexus this year and expect some great finishes in the LX 570."

The JTGrey LX is outfitted with 37-inch BF Goodrich Baja TA project race tires, custom King Racing shocks, Sparco race seats, and nine KC Hilites HID's. Top Trophy Truck builder Geiser Bros. Design and Development made modifications for the build out and will be on site for race support.

Lexus will be cheering for the JTGrey team and the LX 570 at the upcoming races:

• 43rd Tecate SCORE Baja 500, June 3-5

Gotta love the ignorant Toyota and Lexus bashing everywhere you go by so called "enthusiasts" who think they know it all and think that nothing Toyota builds is cool and that people who do like them are "idiots".

Meanwhile, they drive a 2002 Cavalier LS. OOOH SO COOL!

This doesn't even look like it exists yet, more like a poor photoshop and some equipment that it WILL have. Couldn't they done a bit better with the photoshop attempt?

On a side note, cue Miketim1 to gush all over this Toyota product.

        @ Johnny OJ

I was commenting more on the fact of this poor photoshop, but thanks for the info.

The photo above is a terrible photoshop.

And they really think a lot of Lexus buyers are interested in this kind of racing? Really?

That's like showing ads for fine wine or veggie burgers during a NASCAR event. Just seems like a waste of advertising dollars.

Why not just brand it a Toyota?
Branding it a Toyota is useless in the US. Not many people will pony up $70k+ for a Land Cruiser here (unlike the rest of the world), when the Lexus starts at only $10k more.
Well, guess I don't belong in the typical Lexus buyer pool then.

Though the owner may not know, the LX/LC is one of the most capable SUVs around, even in the latest version.

It has one of the highest suspension travel, and articulation, this side of a Rubicon or Power Wagon.
They do sell the same vehicle as the Land Cruiser. They're equipped almost identically though I think the LX interior is more Lexus-like whereas the Land Cruiser, though super expensive, has a less luxed up interior. It shows up in both brands just to fill a hole though, I guess for the somewhat same reason why there's an Escalade and a Yukon Denali. To be honest they hardly sell any Land Cruisers and the real reason it sticks around is because it's a bad-ass SUV that gives a halo effect to the rest of the lineup. It's *the* Land Cruiser, and there's just too much greatness tied to that name to not have it stick around, even if sales are miserable ($70K SUVs don't exactly fly off the shelves).

But that's like saying "This is grandma's coolest walker"
It is "cool" if you want to pander to Lexus, otherwise it is "grandma's coolest walker."
cool thing about this car, it's also the worlds coolest Toyota Land Cruiser
      • 3 Years Ago
Not sure how the score racing works...would this truck compete with the Raptor? Or is the Raptor is a different class????
Nope - it's the ONLY cool Lexus.
The normal, everyday LX is still based on the Land Cruiser, right? The one Lexus SUV I still have quite a bit of respect for...

...that said, yes, this SCORE version looks really damn awesome.
Yes, was going to say it's actually a Lux Land Cruiser, which is a heck of a off road capable vehicle, basically like the Land Rover or Pajero.
The GX is a Prado - worthy of respect IMO. I've seen a Prado do very well offroad.
Shame the GX looks like a melted Avalon wagon, though :(
        • 3 Years Ago
yes minus those gaudy street rims... not befitting of a luxury off road vehicle, even if it is used on roads more often than not.
Really? I mean, to each their own and all, but really??

Growing up, there was a local with a pretty mean FJ80 which was the last gen Land Cruiser I ever cared for. Always liked them, save for their horrific mileage. It is pretty strange that they're pushing a Lexus product in this market, but then again, Toyota needs no help with brand awareness when it comes to truck racing.
