GAC X-Power leaks out – Click above for image gallery

China's Guaungzhou Auto Corp may have not approved it, but the first look at the company's new X-Power crossover has trickled out onto the internet. According to ChinaCarTimes, the automaker just recently purchased the Alfa Romeo 166 platform from the Italian manufacturer, and the X-Power is the second model that we've seen arise from those bones. Judging from the photos, the production take on the CUV wears much of the same styling as the concept version, though it would seem that the taillight design has received some tweaks.

ChinaCarTimes reports that the X-Power will hit the streets with an Alfa-sourced 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with around 163 horsepower when it debuts. GAC has also used the 166 platform for its Trumpchi sedan, which is powered by the same 2.0-liter engine.

Chinese car buyers can look forward to seeing the X-Power in showrooms soon. No launch date has been released, but the vehicle is slated for an unveil at next month's Shanghai Motor Show.

        ... named after an MG.

It looks like a photochop for a game where you guess which pieces came from which cars.

Dig the trick wheels that are in motion while the car isn't.

Now that's what I call cut-and-paste derivative styling. They couldn't even pick an original name. This is why we need to keep enforcing our intellectual property copyrights as well as copyrights of all types.

Concept? The concept was unveiled in 2009, and I thought it was a genuinely pretty vehicle.

This might be the production version, I think.

I like it, even though it has styling cues stolen from Audi, Alfa, and Nissan. It's something different from the Chinese considering every other car heavily steals styling cues from one individual car. Hell, if Hyundai can do it with the Genesis Sedan and make it successful, why can't a Chinese manufacturer? The Genesis Sedan has many different styling cues from Lexus and Mercedes, yet it's successful.

All car makers rip parts off other makers. Peugeot, Toyota, Hyundai, Audi, I could name the specific cars...

But the difference is that Chinese car manufacturers = P.O.S. that's as safe as smashing your head against a nail.

I see people have already mentioned NIssan, Audi, Subaru, VW. However, to me it looks most like it could be an Opel. The overall styling theme seems very similar to Opel's current theme.

Those are some seriously fat tires in that picture. I'm thinking the production version won't really have 10" wide wheels.

"G" must stand for generic. I mean come on even i don't fly around in a "saucer shaped" object.

Chinese QC even lower than Italian or Mexican or even Romanian QC. Oh, joy. I can hardly wait.

Here in the civilized world, we already have a Subaru Impreza hatch.

I'm referring to the part of the world where we don't blatantly rip off other companies' designs and are allowed to actually sell them as our own.

Also, you really don't see the resemblance? The windowline, headlights, grilles, side styling, none of that looks familiar?
I'm not really seeing that much of a resemblance.

On a separate note, that's a pretty condescending attitude you got there. I guess they're all a bunch of savages over there and in Africa and South America too right? I wonder what it's like to have sh!t that doesn't stink.
