Top Gear could be set to welcome royalty into the driver's seat of its reasonably priced Kia Cee'd. Prince Harry is reportedly eager to get behind the wheel and tackle the Top Gear test track in the next series of the popular BBC franchise, where he will attempt to best the 1:44.2 lap time set by Tom Cruise.

Prince Harry is used to handling high-speed machines, but they're typically of the airborne variety. He recently completed military training that qualifies him to fly Apache helicopters. The top speed of an Apache is listed at 182 miles per hour – a few ticks quicker than the Kia.

They should get Prince William, instead. Like Clarkson, he's balding already.

I bet the Hamster gets further dental work done to look his best for Harry!

Will be a far cry from the luxury cars his family owns.

This future King served his country so while I can care less about his personal life, I'd be glad to see him on the show. I'm sure they'll be worshipping him the entire interview but it'll probably be Top Gear highest rated show.

He will never be king..It's either Charles or Williams after the Queen and then Williams first born with be the heir.

I was about to point out the same thing. Hell, I only have the lowly BBCA and its delayed schedule and even I know that:)

In fairness, the Metro article also states that Tom Cruise (wrongly) still has the record, Autoblog are just the messengers. Give them slack, the Metro newspaper appears free on buses, they probably can't afford researchers :)

Love the hat Harry, apparently it is the formal headdress of the third in line to the thrown, he'll only get a crown if he makes it to King.

Hehe... sounds like SOME writer is not up on his Top Gear episodes.

        How embarrassing. :D

Clarkson shroud ask him if he is aware of the fact that we are in year 2011 and that he is a prince and that his granny is a queen.
        so?
The Queen might not get a "fixed salary" from UK taxpayers, but all the pleasures and luxury the Queen enjoys sure as hell comes from the taxpayers.
no..she is not bankrolled by them. Maybe if she goes abroad on visit, but she does not get a set salary from the government.
This will presumably the first time in Harry's life that he has been in a reasonably priced car.

Well if they can have that useless lass from the Nic Cage film they can certainly have the brother of the future King. We skipped that scene since it was clearly just the marketing team from the film trying to get their attractive co-star in front of the British tv audience. She held no interest at all even if "she's a lesbian and likes guns".

I'd sure like to see Harry on the sofa!

So the prince knows how to pilot an Apache ? Cool coincidence is that they've actually brought an Apache gunship onto the Top Gear show to face-off against a Lotus Exige before.
