Mark Webber throws around his Porsche 911 GT2 RS – Click above to watch video after the jump

Mark Webber, or Webbah as we like to pretend he prefers, is an accomplished racing driver with a handful of wins and podium appearances at the very top of the mororsports plateau. It's safe to say that he knows how to drive a car, and he understands what he wants out of his road cars. His chariot of choice? The Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

We don't really need to explain why a racecar driver would choose a 620-horsepower track-ready street assassin. However, Porsche felt like having Webber discuss the car and it did so with the cameras rolling.       I was hoping he'd explain why he got this instead of the GT3 RS though. I figured as a racing driver, he'd appreciate an all motor engine instead of a turbo, but I'd love to be educated

      wow . 516 ft lbs torque between 2250 - 5500 rpm
      If it had awd it might have a chance to tie or beat gtr to 60 .

        how many times do you really go from 0 to 60 in real life ? most of the time you're moving with 30-40 , this already denies the AWD car its edge, i'm sure the GT2 RS can beat the GTR from 30 upwards.

        Yes , those numbers past 60 are indeed impressive but for real world use 0 to 60 is relevent to me .
        I realize the car lacks the advantage of awd hindering its number to 60 .
        In the bike world there is a bike called the V max , 1700cc V4 - a real torque monster .
        But in 1/4 mile runs the 1340 cc busa beats it because it can get the power to the ground better .
        And thats what matters to me .
        Doing 186 mph is something . If you did a 176 mph you would cover the distance of a football field every second . My problem is what happens if something gets in the way , you would have to see 2 football fields ahead to react in time . See the problem . Good eye sight is a plus .

        0-60 on this car is irrelevant, it has RWD and a manual transmission. what's impressive is the acceleration beyond 60mph and how it continues to accelerate up to max speed.

      Back in the day the 911 Turbo (930) separated the boys from the men, meaning real drivers or the soon-to-be-dead from wimps with that mean oversteer, massive turbo lag and no electronics. It was a real challenge, and that was why Niki Lauda had to have one.

      This baby is the modern version of that widow maker, thus F1 jockeys wanting a go. Only this time most drivers will walk away in one piece, though perhaps not pushing it as far as this talented Aussie.

      I would have loved to see a full lap, no music or gimmicks. As it is, Fifth Gear's Jason Plato's test of this car is soo much better. He's also one hell of a driver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZQdUGbLmi0

      I still kind of think this is the answer to the GTR... but this I have to admit its a very cool car even! when I dont like how porsche looks

        To call the GT2 RS the answer to Nissan's GT-R is downright crazy. The GT2 RS and GT-R are not even comparable. Don't get me wrong, the GT-R is a great performer for the money, but it's not even in the same league as the GT2 RS.

        I don't even really like 911's, but this is definitely one of my dream cars.

        Beyond what Nissan may brainwash you with...the GT2 RS was 7:18 around Nurburg, or 9 seconds faster, and that's WITHOUT AWD + a million gizmos...that is raw automobile mechanics and talent. Something Nissan can only dream of producing for a true automobile enthusiast that enjoys driving.

      0 - 60 -- off the line -- as well as knowing the others car is important to me for short merges and left hand turns .

      It's wierd, i hate most porsches, but i love the gt2 and the gt3 versions.
