Nelly disapproves of back-up dancers and falling snow – Click above to watch video after the jump

The audio system in the 2011 Ford Explorer was created by Sony and features Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Technology being pumped through 12 speakers, including a subwoofer. The crisp-sounding system can pick up HD Radio channels and tag songs so you can buy them later with iTunes. Ford tapped multiple Grammy Award-winner Nelly to discuss the virtues of this setup.

Ford also got a hold of a director that thinks Nelly and the 2011 Ford Explorer are not enough to make a stand-out commercial. He decides to add some pizazz, and Nelly feels it's not needed. The premise sounds iffy but the results are surprisingly hilarious. Check out the clip for yourself by clicking past the jump. Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to go brush up on our Country Grammar...

      This one was better than the previous one with the wedding. Still, is AB now simply pimping for Ford now? I mean a commercial isn't NEWS, so why are you guys posting this stuff if not because you are getting paid to?
        • 3 Years Ago
        It's about cars and we found it amusing.

        We write posts on commercials for all makes...

        You know, your mouth has to start getting sores on it after you've inserted your foot in it so many times. You have been doing that lately.

      Nelly is a surprisingly good at acting.

        @Kumail
        He has been pretty good in everything I have seen him in.
        I am surprised he does not get more roles.

        @Kumail
        If someone is a talented performer they can often apply that to acting!

      How much is Ford paying Autoblog to keep writing articles about their advertisements?
        • 3 Years Ago
        Hard to count all this Ford money in my new Ford parka and Ford mittens...

        There was plenty of coverage given to ads from other manufacturers shown during the superbowl

      I'd much rather have a black SS with the navigation.

      Cool car. Crappy rapper.
        • 3 Years Ago
        Well, you can't have crap without rap.
        • 3 Years Ago
        Damn, the dude above is so creative. I never got that if you added the letter "c" in front of "rap" it would spell "crap." Then he used that as a way to insult the rap genre. That is simply brilliant. God damn, I've been on the internet for over a decade now and that is the wittiest and most creative thing I have ever seen.
        • 3 Years Ago
        Well, I disagree with him that all rap is bad.

        But Nelly is to rap as Katy Perry is to pop. I.e. worthless.

      Whats with the free Facebook ad at the end? Why not point people to your website?
        • 3 Years Ago
        Haven't you heard? People want social networking with their ads! And they want to tweet about products! And they want their 140 word thoughts read live on the news!

        ...the world sucks these days. :(
        • 3 Years Ago
        I agree with you except for they don't "Link" to the actual Ford Explorer Facebook page they just have the Facebook logo and a search bar. Why not put the http://www.facebook.com/FordExplorer address in there instead.
        • 3 Years Ago
        Because Facebook advertising works and is incredibly cheap.
        • 3 Years Ago
        Not with people such as yourself, AnalogDan!
      • 3 Years Ago
      That is actually pretty damn funny! Normally anytime I hear "Nelly" I immediately start running the other way but that was worth it!

      Credit where credit is due. Not bad. Not bad at all.
