Over the past few years, the Volvo S60 has achieved considerable success in touring car racing around the world. The factory-supported Polestar team took the title in the Swedish Touring Car Championship a few years back before switching to the C30, and K-Pax Racing took the Manufacturers' and Drivers' trophies in the World Challenge GT Championship with the car last year.

Thing is, the touring car taking the honors is still wearing the bodywork of the old Volvo S60, so it was only a matter of time before its successor would be revealed. And here it is.

Although K-Pax will still use the old S60R in the first few rounds of the 2011 World Challenge, the new all-wheel-drive racer will be rolled out for the fourth round at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, in late April.

        @Elmo,

        it's only Volvo that seems to get a bad rap for its parent company. Most people are far too blinded by image to even ask where Jaguar/ Land rover is from... or how bad their reliability ratings are.

        And Volvo is one of the very few "European Imports" left. Ze Germans are building more and more of their products Stateside...Volvo is conceived, developed, manufactured, assembled, hearquartered, and imported from Europe. doesn't that make it a European import?

      The previous year's All Wheel Drive S60's were incredibly competitive in World Challenge races with their standing starts.

      Drop and the clutch and rocket to first & second places respectively while everyone else was still looking for traction. Only problem with standing starts in the past, was inconsistent reliability with the driveline, so hopefully they come back to racing with these issues addressed.

      New Definition for Safe Speed! Bring it into a line similar to AMG, M, S, etc. and there will be buyers.

        I think the team is sponsored by a 2001 Kevin Spacey movie!
