Hot Rod takes the 2011 Shelby GT350 out for a smoke break – Click above to watch video after the jump

Hot Rod was recently busy filming its Shelby Cobra versus Super Snake video, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some downtime. That break in the action... resulted in more action, because someone at Shelby handed the Hot Rod crew keys to a 2011 GT350.

Did they take a few casual runs up and down the road to get some basic footage? No, they lined up the car on a desert side street and attempted to ruin the rear rubber. On their way back to the original film shoot, they threw in a quick power slide for good measure. Drop the clutch and click past the jump to check out the clip.

I cannot get over how Shelby has turned the GT350 into what would be American rice. The old GT350 used to be a race car, this is not even close.

        @Carlos
Shelby has nothing to do with these cars - he's just letting his name be used. If I had the bucks for one of these (some day I will) I would rather just have a GT and take the savings to the Ford Racing catalog. I love these cars but Shelby whoring his name and Ford plastering it everywhere would make me feel like a badge..uh..you know.

Awesome cars - just too slappy-cartoony with the Shelby name & the looks of all that plastic & badge work...

@miles You are wrong. This GT350 is built by Shelby down in Vegas. They take a stock GT and rice the **** out of it. It is sick to see what Shelby has become.

Nice, but the front fascia looks like cheap flimsy plastic. They could have done a better job, especially considering the price. I'd rather have a GT500.. Cheaper, faster and better looking.

It's a dream to have a car like this.

Carroll himself may be a polarizing figure, but there's no denying the coolness of everything the Shelby brand puts out.

too bad ford can't build a vehicle without outside assistance shelby, roush and whoever else GO CHEVY !!!!
Funny, last time i checked the stock mustang spanked the camaro SS.
So it would seem that ford doesn't need shelby or roush to own your camaro.

While i despise this shelby, your comment makes absolutely no sense.

Terrible tunerific body kit and wheels.

+1.....tres d'accord!!! Agreed, very plastic looking.

That car got a chin that jay leno would've been proud of.

The car is a beauty. I own the GT and part of me wishes I would have stepped up to the GT500. This is going to sound crazy but I think I like the look of the GT350 better...

As a mustang lover, i must say, I hate this car.
Everything about it is terrible, starting with the price.
This guy likes the rear fascia? Is he blind? First off, it's pure rice, belongs on the set of the first fast and furious film. Second, i can see that gap by the taillight a mile away, so much for fit and finish.

The wheels are too small and don't look right either.

I'd rather spend my money on a used (or close to new for what this package costs) zo6 and run circles around this thing.
      Maybe even a ctsv.
I can only hope they test these cars vs this mustang.

I'm curious... how much mustang is enough mustang?

I'm not saying it's a bad there that there is a flavor for every color of the rainbow, but boy is it tough to keep track of which is which.

      PS - I

"How much Mustang is too much Mustang?"

That's like asking a dog how much cat chasing is too much cat chasing. You just can't quantify that!

That being said...I just made a mess all over my keyboard. Anyone got a towel I can use...?

Hm, apparently you can't add a carrot to a post.

PS - I heart tire smoke.
