Spy Shots: Next-Generation Kia Soul – Click above for high-res image gallery

Kia is hard at work crafting an update to its funky little Soul. Our spy photographers in Germany have spotted a camo-clad example hiding an updated look.

Kia evidently plans on keeping up with current automotive trends, so the next-generation Soul will wear LED running lights (which are hiding beneath the amber stripes in the above photo) and sport turn-signal indicators in the mirrors.

Up front and out back, the Kia Soul will get revised bumpers. According to our sources, the Soul's revised mouth will mimic the style found on the Kia Picanto, while the rear bumper cap are expected to seee the fog lights pushed further to the outside edges on Euro models.

There's no word yet on when we'll see this Soul sans-camo, but anything can happen when the auto show season is in full swing. In the meantime, we'll have to use our imagination to figure out what's going on under that camouflage, and you can try do the same by clicking through the gallery below.

I cant imagine KIA fussing with that clever design too much, as big of a success it has been so far. I like the original design, but always thought the headlights could use some improvement.

Didn't that thing JUST debut last year?

If so, I dont think a face-lift is going to help much....ouch

It has been out for since 2009, so it is going on its third MY. This isn't uncommon at all for them to be preparing the MMC.

You might want to look up when it was actually released before you comment...

Really? So you have x-ray vision?

Uh is it me or does the front look more hamster-like.

Needs a transmission upgrade more than anything.

      I really like the soul.

If a few little things change like fenders or flares or whatever it will probably make it look even better, so I'm not complaining.

If it also means more hamster commercials I'm all for it. They are by far the most memorable in my opinion. Well, other than the Audi Living room commercial a few years ago...

      Soul doesn't need a refresh....It's already number 1 selling box car in the U.S. beating its competitors by 6-8 times more selling.cube/XB:around 1000 soul:about 10000 every month.Also....even though it is on camoflouge,there seems to be almost no changes even though it is a facelift....Then they should just cover the headlamp;;;;
      Anyways...soul isn't ugly....it is HELLA CUTE!!!

I agree. It just needed a updated powertrain.
Yeah, it just needs the 6 spd and one of Hyundai/Kia's smaller DI engines and it's good to go.

Why mess with the sales leader (by far) in the boxy cute-cute segment?

Roof rack comes on Soul in other markets..including Canada. U.S. get's screwed on the roof rack because of curtain airbags I believe.
      The roof rack is new.
Maybe they're changing the door handles again.
