Audi RS3 Sportback - Click above to watch video after the jump

If you live in Pittsburgh, you probably don't need a dissertation on the evils of winter. The season is an expanse of cold darkness punctuated by spurts of insufferable weather and hamfisted drivers. Fortunately, the good people at Audi have been so kind as to provide the world with a reminder of all there is to love about the cooler months. The company has turned out another lengthy bout of footage of the delicious new RS3 Sportback as it dashes through the snow.

There's plenty of sideways action as well as excellent car control, all shot from multiple angles. Audi even busted out a helicopter to take in the view from above. There's over seven minutes of footage to enjoy without a whisper of music or a pesky voiceover to spoil the sound of the RS3 barking through the powder. Hit the jump to watch the full clip for yourself.

One question: I thought Audi RS cars had twin oval tail pipes, how could they forget? The TTRS which has the same engine has them. It seems odd...

awesome driving, and whoever directed this I'm grateful to for this awesomeness.

That's the car i have been waiting for. Not ugly like the 1m. Practical unlike the 1m. Faster than the 1m. Not cheesy like the 1m.

So how much? I used to own a GTI 16V, and I'll never buy a VW again. I can only think with an RS, it wouldn't be a VW, and would seriously impress. Lots of power to all wheels, lots of room for schtuff. Awesome schtuff.

You two guys are hilarious -- you're both Canadian and drive Mazdas. I don't understand the stereotype, though -- is it because Mazda is marketed much more than VW over there?

My mom is from Toronto, actually, and all of my cousins there either drive Mazda 6s, Miatas, Mazda 5s, or RAV 4s. I can understand SUVs having safe AWD platforms for winter time (I visited last year and saw all the accidents due to black ice), but I don't see what makes Mazdas so special over there. Can you guys fill me in?

        Swiss Chalet rocks!

        Signed,

        A Los Angeles dude

Its really strange that they left the front plate on for the video.

Does anyone know WHERE in Ontario this is? I'd love to take a winter-driving training course there in my Miata - RWD on the back streets after a snowfall is lots of fun, but getting out on a course, getting a bit closer to that edge between control and mayhem, with an instructor would be amazing.

5-cylinder in an RS model? This thing should have at least the supercharged 3.0L V6 from the touareg.
The TT-RS has the same engine.. they're both small and light (enough).
And that audio track is definitely dubbed in. It's repetitive and doesn't fit on a lot of scenes. Plus the 5-cylinder sounds weak and overworked, not free-breathing like it should be in a top-line model.

LOL @ suggesting a 3L V6 over an Audi 5 Cylinder!! oh man.....how the uninformed live...
Get yours checked. Why would the engine be accelerating(not downshifting) when the brake lights are on? Why would the engine make the same exact sounds when going around different corners? Hell, there are 4 different sound clips used in the first 3 minutes of footage, when there are a lot more than 4 different angles being shot.
