Citroën DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection – Click above for high-res image gallery

It's French. It's compact. It's stylish. And it's hard to get more chic than the Citroën DS3. Does it really need an extra touch of style, then, from a fashion designer? Probably not, but that's never stopped the Parisians before, and it's not about to now.

And so Citroën has teamed up with Orla Kiely for a limited-edition collection of DS3 hatchbacks. Only 500 examples of the four different models will be offered. Each painted in one of four different colors with four different roof designs that feature Orla Kiely's signature stem or acorn design – a theme which repeats in the interior and on the rear tailgate. There's also contrasting door mirror shells and 17-inch alloys in either white or black depending on the design.

Citroën and globally renowned designer, Orla Kiely, have revealed details of an exciting collaboration for an exclusive line of DS3 models - the DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection.

Limited to just 500 cars, the DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection integrates the designer's iconic style into the eye-catching and award-winning features of Citroën's distinctive DS3.

Externally, the collection showcases four body colours; four different roof designs - featuring Orla's signature stem or acorn patterns; coloured door mirrors; stem print rear window graphics; and black or white 17" alloy wheels. An Orla Kiely stem graphic also features on the rear tailgate, with a further signature positioned in the middle of the rear spoiler.

Inside, owners will delight in the stylish leather seats with their Orla Kiely embossed multi-coloured headrests; stem or acorn print carpet mats; and colour contrasting dashboard and door handle inserts in cream or brown.

Orla Kiely commented: "Collaborating with Citroën and DS3 was such an exciting project as it's so different from all my previous work. I love the designs we've created and the way they're incorporated into the car!"

Mark Lloyd, Chief Designer of DS3, added; "Citroën has a continuing affinity with the worlds of fashion and design, exemplified by the chic DS and iconic 2CV - archetypal models reflecting the glamour and enduring style of their period. Orla Kiely's innovative use of colour and pattern has earned her global praise and recognition. She is the perfect partner for DS3 - which is already TopGear magazine's Car of the Year and a model fast becoming an icon of its own time."

The DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection is based on the DStyle HDi 90 manual, a generously specified model including Bluetooth® and USB connectivity, which is powered by a fuel and CO2 efficient powerplant.

The DS3 by Orla Kiely Collection is 'on sale' from 1st February 2011, priced from just £16,000.00 MRRP OTR.

I've see many of these here in europe, the design looks quite good in pictures but it's really a mess on the streets. so overdesigned and ridiculously sloppy with normal rims

My first thought on seeing its roof, "Why does it have fried eggs painted on it?" Looks cool though.

Glad to see so many cultured readers here at Autoblog...

Love the design, not sure if I'd buy one but this much classier than the cheap looking graphics Ford has come out with.

I own a DS3 White edition, and have to say I love it, with cool looks and a great drive, and with the upcoming release of the Orla Keily designs and the DS3 Racing, I think the DS range will take the market by storm!
As I work in a dealership, we were lucky enough to see the designs first hand, and they look great! www.budgenmotors.co.uk

Ugh, looks like fried eggs in various states of decay were dropped on the roof...

Upholstery probably smells of Camembert too...

Bring these over here (minus the flowery roof) as a Mitsubishi; basic common sense

I prefer my Citroens to not look like kitchen accessories from the 70's, thanks.
