Subaru Canada's version of Choose Your Own Adventure – Click above to watch video after the jump

Remember the Choose Your Own Adventure books? The series, which sold over 250 million copies between 1979 and 1998, allowed you to choose your path through the story, but not every path led to a happy ending. The rally team from Subaru Canada must have read a few of these books yet decided to make any and all choices lead down the same awesome path, just from a slightly different viewpoint.

Strapping a gaggle of HD cameras onto a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car, the team was able to load all the footage up to YouTube, where the viewer can select the viewing angle of his or her choice, be it the dash cam, bumper cam, clutch cam or side cam.

The driver is Pat Richard, the navigator is Alan Ockwell, and the quartet of camera angles is the Choose Your Own Adventure book we wish we could have read as a kid. Slide over the crest to view the clips.

Am I the only one who looked at the title and thought, "Choose Your Own Camshaft"? I thought, wow, that's mighty nice of them (and in complete opposition to everything I know about emissions certification).

Get these guys in the WRC. We could use more Canadians in major motorsports.

He gave it a shot, unfortunately he doesn't own a shoe company.

Not for the faint of heart!

Pat Richard is Canadian, and his last name is pronounced "reh SHARD", not "RICH ard" as we would likely say here in the USA. I know this because I was at a few Rally America rallies where he either won or placed well. You will learn a lot if you go to rallies. Pat is quite the driver, seemingly friendly, and has a most pleasant sister who has codriven for him on numerous occasions.

Reminds me of that hotwheels interactive youtube thing before... Except people won't give you funny looks if you watch this in public

HOLY HELL! Go to 5:28 and watch the side mount camera. At 5:30 they come within like 3 feet of the guy on the side of the track after the "big jump"

I stepped back from the side of the road when Pat landed hard as I heard something go bust (his front rim) and see me at 5:29. I thought that was close (i never realized how close I was until I seen a spectator's video of this jump from the other side of the road), but the guy at 5:30, whoa. Having reservations on shooting from that spot again next year (been there for the last few years), maybe I'll go to the other side of the road which is a "bit safer".

This. is. AWESOME! I've always gotten so frustrated that clips like Rhys Millen's Pikes Peak run, Pastrana's Mt. Washington run, and numerous other rally vids don't give you the full vid from all of the camera angles that were used in the car.

I hope we start seeing more vids like this, and they get a bit more polished so you can switch seamlessly on-the-fly.

This is so cool! Eventually all racing will have interactive components like this.

        That'd be sweet.
Make it stream in Flash or, if possible, HTML 5. That way you won't need to open a different browser when you want to change camera angles. That should make seamless with less loading of other stuff.

"Big Jump", huh? You know, I'm pretty sure there is no place in the world less suited for understatements than a rally race.

This is the greatest sport ever. Love watching these videos.
