Chevrolet Sonic CUV spy shots – Click above for high-res image gallery

Not long ago, our spies captured a lifted Ford Fiesta prototype, suggesting that a B-segment crossover might be in the works for Ford. If that's the case, it looks like the Fiesta CUV will have competition when it hits the streets, as we've received this set of spy shots showing a high-riding version of the Chevrolet Aveo Sonic.

Is the Sonic CUV bound for North American soil? Hard to say, but we won't be crossing our fingers for this one to arrive on our shores. Expect to see the Sonic-based crossover sometime in 2012, with both front- and all-wheel drive versions available, with power supplied by a range of gasoline and diesel engines.

So, this would be like the Geo Tracker? An inexpensive little SUV?
I would love if there were a Neo Geo Tracker. Trackers and their Suzuki siblings were legit off-roaders. Howerver, I would be happy if this were the Chevy Trax and a close relative to the Spark. Especially, if it had the e-4wd like the concept and lots of kei cars.

        Mmmm, perhaps called the "SuperSonic"?

Great idea for the snowbelt. We can't buy a dinky little hybrid because >100hp won't get it out of our driveway with the dismal ground clearance they have.
Considering I saw several Priuses, a couple Ford Fusion hybrids, and 3 Volts on the road this morning, I'd like to call this post...bunk.
Nevermind, I think I misunderstood your comment.

Anyway, I suspect a Ford Escape Hybrid would outperform this any day when it comes to ground clearance/all weather performance.

It's takes more than 100hp to break free from snow?

Interesting because where I live our biggest issue with snow is traction, not lack of power.
And this morning is notable because we got 6 inches of snow last night...

The world needs fewer crossovers, not more.

"I don't know what the world may need,
but a V8 engine is a good start for me.
Think I'll drive to find a place,
        to be surly.
I don't know what the world may want,
but some words of wisdom could comfort us.
Think I'll leave that up to someone wiser." -cracker

Better crossovers than SUVs any day of the week.
@autoblog...LOL there is no way to tell what it is...saying it is a Sonic is just grasping at straws. Everyone might as well get use to the fact more and more C and B segment cars and CUV's will be coming to the market. I don't know what your paying for gas where you live but it's too high where I live and still going up... More MPG please.

to me it reminds me of the Vauxhall/Opel Corsa CUV concept.
but i distinctly see inspiration in the mirrors from the Chevy Orlando and Amp. i also see inspiration in the hood line from the Chevy Spark and Cruze.
but door frame, especially around the windows isn't consistent with any other Chevy models. it resembles doors from the Opel line. that and the rather large skylight.
to me it makes me think this would be the lovechild of an Opel Corsa and Toyota Ist and the Chevy Orlando.
but definitely not a segment Chevy has been present in in a long time.

Uh... so the GM stock holders will be getting their money back, too? Geez... I guess you're right. Nobody was ripped off.
