Sprinkled around Cobo Hall this morning in the wee hours of the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, we discovered a number of promotional images from Toyota teasing the big Prius announcement that's coming later this afternoon. We don't know with 100 percent certainty, but in addition to the Prius MPV we already knew about, the ad sure makes it look like the secret Prius concept to be unveiled later today will be, ta da!, a smaller Prius hatchback.

From what we can gather, the diminutive hatch will officially be unveiled in a few hours, but we thought the new Prius family line-up – featuring (from left) the Prius Plug In, the Prius MPV, the standard Prius and the new hatchback – was worth sharing. Stay tuned for live pics and the full details once we're back form the Toyota press conference. Until then, discuss if you'd like to go for a spin in the smallest version of the world's best-selling hybrid.

It's good to see the Monday-morning-hater-crowd has had their coffee.

Why not make Prius a separate brand like Scion?
"The new Prius Coupe - Because the Scion Tc just doesn't suck enough."

      or

"The new Prius Coupe - Because 10 seconds to 60 in a CR-Z is just wayyyyyy too fast."

Considering the regular Prius does it in 10.1, I would expect this coupe thing to be quicker than the CR-Z...the THS powertrain is actually capable of a lot more than what the Prius exhibits performance-wise.

It's okay to have a Prius family, but to have them look all alike is insane.

Like kids, if they're in the same family, shouldn't they look similar? Or are we talking illegitimate children?

      The plural for Prius: Battery.

      I gotta think of everything.

      One Prius, two Prius.

The CR-Z is sporty, just not fast (not yet anyway). Looks great with typical tuner accents added to it, like light weight wheels and lowering.

Anyway, more choice in a limited market is always good.

A ten year old Jetta TDI with a faulty fuel return that lets air into the filter during cold weather is sporty. Certainly sportier than a V6 Mustaro, which is often left in a cloud of embarrassed white smoke when its driver can't figure out how to draw an H with his right hand while tapdancing.

      Plural: "Priustus" family?

Now the current Prius is by no means a great looking car, but it's by no means ugly. That sketch of the bigger Prius. That looks ugly.

Plural of Prius? Prius. Like a deer and deer thang.

The plural for Prius is "Junk-yard"
