2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class – Click above for high-res image gallery

We've been told to expect to get our first glimpse of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March, but a few photos of the German two-door may have leaked out ahead of time. The images you see above were sourced up by the team at GMotors. From what we can tell, the vehicle in the stylized photos lines up pretty well with the spy photos we've seen of the 2012 C-Class Coupe so far, which leads us to believe that this may actually be the real deal. If so, the new coupe will wear the new beak of its updated four-door compatriots.

That includes the new slightly restyled front fascia. Interestingly enough, this particular set of photos ditches the quad fog lights we saw in the spy photos in favor of LED units. we'd say that seems like a fairly reasonable change given the popularity of the diodes in automotive design at the moment. Word is that this particular machine will get the same rash of engines as the sedan, meaning that buyers can expect to get their hands on either a 3.0-liter V6 with 228 horsepower or a 3.5-liter six-pot with 268 ponies. The question is, will we get an entry-level four-cylinder model like the 2012 C-Class sedan? Something tells us we'll know a little more as we get closer to Geneva. Thanks for the tip, Luke.

      Really?

Two V6 engines, and the best they can do is 268 horsepower?

Most 3.5 liter class V6s from less prestige claiming brands make over 300, even up into the 340 range. 40-80 more horsepower.

      If I wanted only 220 horsepower, I would want a lighter-weight 4-cylinder engine. This isn't 1990 anymore.

And if it is going to look as "practical" as a sedan looks, why not have the 4 doors on your car?

I like coupes, I always have. And since I don't need the practicality, I want some eye candy. I thought that was part of the point of a less practical coupe body-style.

I think the poster of this story is just a little uneducated.I was trying to enter the MB tweet race comp to win one of these so I did a bunch of research. The base model is a turbo 4 with a little over 200hp. The mid model is the 3.0 with almost 230 hp and the 3.5 has been improved to about 300hp. These are unofficial specs for the coupe but I'm sure they are more accurate than what was listed in the post.

Unless this coupe is based on the next generation C-class platform, it is NOT the next generation C-class. Kind of doubt that it is not sharing the same W204 platform that the current C-class uses, when the successor to that wouldn't show up until 2014, at the earliest.

It's a pretty nice compliment when Mercedes uses your design (Honda) as a basis for its new car . . . the Accord coupe. The roof line is a direct copy, and the cut line along the side of the car mimics the Accord. Even the protruding frontal shape copies the Accord (a little bondo and the Accord grille would fit-in exactly). Thanks Mercedes for validating Honda's nice looking coupe by making yours a clone of the Accord.

I want the 3.5 with a turbo. This would be ideal

WTF? You responded to yourself twice.

The 2.0 in the Audi is weak, all it does is launch hard because of the AWD. They are DOG slow once moving.

        @TheSensor

You are right, I mean that engine is fantastic and looks would be the only choice decision. I thing the Merc is a bit sexier but heck the A4 is a better package.

        You are so smart Sensor...

Otherwise i would go the A4 2.0t in lieu of this.

      Yeah, that's what I thought.

i dont see accord in there at all, but the rear three quarter shot makes the car look reeeaally good, not a fan of the updated front though, liked the front more before the facelift
        • 4 Years Ago
I think it looks very much like an Accord coupe, just a tiny bit less angular in the front.
Smart move by Mercedes to have a C-Class coupe.

Looks very sporty. Just wish that the engine choices were more competitive against BMW's 3.0 Turbo, which is a screamer.

Albeit with better proportions. Overhangs make or break a car's overall stance.

If you're blind, yes. To those without physical abnormalities, it's a very hot looking Benz.

      I wish I could afford it....but gas @ $5.00 a gallon it would be a money pit..........

The shape is nice, but the details manage to look both cluttered and boring at the same time. Also, as others have noted, a Mercedes with a 3.5L V6 that only pumps out 268hp is a little sad in 2011 and will be even more unimpressive by the time 2012 gets here.

Obviously, their Photoshop department was too busy turning the contrast so high that the pictures look like a freakin' comic book.
