Ferrari P4/5 Competizione – Click above for high-res image gallery

James Glickenhaus is up to some very naughty things with his Ferrari P4/5 Competizione. Forged from the embers of a re-bodied F430 and a desire to wade into the deep end of the 24 Hours Nürburgring, the P4/5 Competizione is insanity writ large. Glickenhaus has been so kind as to share a few visions of his creation with the rest of the world via the wonder of Facebook, and from what we can tell, carbon fiber has never looked so good.

Judging from the photos, Glickenhaus and his team have completed work on the carbon fiber shell – giving the P4/5 Competizione both the low weight and strength needed to do the deed around the Green Hell for 24 straight hours. They've also begun snugging in the mechanical bits, and it looks like the roll cage is tucked into place as well. From what we can see, the vehicle will retain many of the sexy lines that Pininfarina first debuted on the showcar, though with the hardware necessary for going fender to fender with some of the world's greatest racers. Check out the slew of photos on Facebook.

Are you serious?? Am I the only one who thinks this (and the P 4/5) are totally HIDEOUS?!!!! They are so ugly! I like the new 458, and the 430 was a sight to behold...but this is fugly beyond words!! The build quality is def top notch, but so is it on a Pagani Zonda!! That, older Ferrari's, and even the new McLaren (NICE!!) are way better on the eyes!!!

The P4/5 is one of the most beautiful expressions of modern sports car sculpture; I've seen it (and heard it) in person at Mr. Glickenhaus's shop. I will disgree with you on the 430, it is not Pininfarina's best work but the 458 is near the top for me for post 70's Ferrari. I put the McLaren F1 in the same league as the P4/5 but not the new one, it's pretty boring visually.

Eh, the McLaren is more visually appealing that the P 4/5 but they both still look like weirdly space-pod cars! They may be mechanically amazing (especially the F1!), yet the whole fish-bowl look went out with the prototypes from the 50's-60's!!!!

F430 will not cut it at American Le Mans. This year will be just insane

Except for the fact that this won't be racing in the ALMS and the 458 GTC is currently being developed.

      See, Jay Leno?
(Come on: do a one off race car/team to compete with Glickenhaus' one. Please? An Alfa Romeo? :))

I thought the P4/5 was a rebodied Enzo.

It is, but I don't know about the Competizione.
