Hennessey channels Top Gun with its Venom GT – Click above to watch video after the jump

The Hennessey Venom GT is a beastly two-seater that produces as much power as a small sun. An LS9, taken from the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, is massaged to produce an astonishing 933 horsepower and 874 pound-feet of torque at the rear wheels. If those numbers don't scare you, we're guessing you're probably a naval aviator who is used to seeing the bright flash of afterburners coming to life. If so, you're in luck because the Venom GT also spits hot fire.

We've seen it run on the dyno and we've also seen it produce a few flames from just off idle. Now we have video of Hennessey upping the ante by combining the two. While at full song scream, the Hennessey Venom GT belches a massive jet of fire out of its twin-exhaust outlets. Neato. Grab a stick, some marshmallows and click past the jump.

nice... but for that price their crazy... I can get much better built cars for less then that... LFA the list goes on... and people used to call the LFA expensive... almost a million bucks for this? They have lost their minds.
theres nothing impressive about this car beside its power. Thats it.. anyone can build a powerful car... hell give me enough money and I will make a civic out run this. Hell I beat the LFA is better built then this Venom.. hell I can get 3 LFA's ! lol

Nothing so world impressive here. Just another back yard project. People dont complain about the Veyron.. because its Veyron. WTF is a Vemon GT and why am I paying almost a Million bucks ??
        Say w.e you want.

This car isn't worth almost a million dollars. Period. Looking at this car I see... mmm about 200k worth at least.
Looking at this car? YOURE ONLY SEEING IT IN PICTURES! You haven't sat in one, nor have you felt how it drives compared to any other hypercar.

Quit complaining about the price. Like I said, even if it were at $200k, you still wouldn't be able to afford one. So why complain?
It can do other things, but like the dyno run it also ends in a ball of flames.

Is this fire called hot fire or jet flame?
Can this thing do anything else other then dyno runs?
It can do many other things. But like the dyno run it always ends in a ball of flames.
Ever heard of a car being developed? Every big manufacturer does it. Oh and by the way, this is the 1st video of it on a dyno.
        @ elmo,
No, I've never heard of that 'development' thing before. Thanks for your incredible insight. You win the internet again. You're awesome!

        @mbinni

I'm a coward? One who cannot admit when they're in the wrong is labeled as someone being a coward. That would be you.

        @Rob

When did all this happen? Oh right. 3 or 4 years ago. Hold grudges, much?
@Elmo ..i see you're still an angry little man. And btw i don't hold grudges i just lol at the fact you're doing the same crap here that you did 3 or 4 years ago. Also i'm not who you think i am.
I wonder if this is the same Elmo from Myspace auto chat...if it is then he gets all his car info from Wikipedia and Google.
Wow Elmo you took offense to my post. Did i hit a nerve?
Oh Elmo, you're so fragile. And quite the coward too. Threatening people from behind your keyboard. You're such a weasel.

Just to answer a few points:

      1. It has been tested. Extensively, on track and on road, including use as a daily driver. You can even see a video of it being tested here, on this very website: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/11/video-hennessey-venom-gt-does-a-lap-on-track/

      2. It's not really a Hennessey car at all, they just tune the engine and brand it. It's designed and built by a British company called Delta Motorsport in Silverstone, England: http://www.delta-motorsport.com/project08.htm

      3. It's not 'an Exige with a V8 in it' - not least because it's two feet longer and a foot and a half wider. The only common parts are the doors, cabin roof, cabin floor, dash and windscreen. Everything else is bespoke.

        OK,

So if, as you say, it's been extensively tested then why won't the damn thing idle on Leno's Video!

I really don't give a darn who hennessy or do I know this guy's history, I do know that he brought his vehicle on Leno and it wouldn't run!

THANK YOU! Jesus H. Christ. I keep trying to say to everybody that this is only an Elise in design, yet nobody believes me. You now have a link that proves me kind of right (I keep saying it was developed by Hennessey).
That might be enough power. Break out the hot dogs and marshmallows! Impressive, but not scary, but then again, I used to ride modified superbikes.
Enough with the dyno runs. Let's see this thing perform on a track.
This is the 1st dyno run video...
