2008 Chrysler Town and Country – Click above for high-res image gallery

Chrysler has put out a notice that it will be recalling 367,350 minivans in both Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan flavors. The reason? The airbags might go off when you don't want them to. Water leaks in 2008 model year minivans may accidentally trigger a warning light and/or accidental airbag deployment.

The culprit is an HVAC hose grommet that was improperly installed. Moisture can then collect in the minivan's carpet and drip into the airbag deployment module. Chrysler will begin notifying owners of the recall in February, and as always, the fix will come at no cost.

Hah, Yeaa, this reminds me if the time my buddy accidentally set off the airbags in a car he was workin on,.. "told ya not to plug that in right now.." facepalm..
Um, what if the airbag deploys accidentally before the scheduled recall notice goes out?

I would hate to be in a car when the airbags go off without warning..

I saw all the airbags in a Chevy deploy when the driver closed the door. Scary as heck to see and hear all of them go off at once. His wife (who was sitting in the passenger seat at the time) was ready to kill him, like it was his fault.

Yeah, of all the recalls we read about the problem I'd least like to have would involve the airbag. It's definitely not cool to have shrapnel thrown in your face by a deploying airbag like the Honda recall, and it's definitely not good to have the airbags in your minivan go off while you're driving. Airbags are very loud, and when they go off you can't see anything because the cabin basically turns completely white. Not to mention that it's damned hard to keep control of a car when the airbag just punched you in the face.
Even worse, not only would it likely make you get into an accident, but when you crash you won't have airbags to help save you because they've already gone off! If the airbags popped when you're going 70mph on the highway and you veer off into a tree there won't be another airbag to cushion your blow. I can't really think of anything much more dangerous than that, with most other problems there's usually something you can do to help bring the car to a stop safely somewhere but even a really good driver would have a hard time not getting into an accident if their airbag goes off without warning.

Damn those Toyotas, can't do anything right, oh well at least they recalled it before being sued.

OH WAIT! It's an "American" company! What happened? Yeah I know, they "willingly" recalled the products before anyone got "murdered".
