John Z. DeLorean, driving force behind such iconic vehicles as the Pontiac GTO, Firebird and the DMC-12 that bears his name, led an interesting life. He helped jump-start the muscle car era, created a unique stainless steel sports car of his own, was charged with trafficking drugs in an attempt to raise funds for his company and later successfully defended himself against those charges. It's no surprise, then, that Hollywood has been attempting to get a biographical film together that focuses on the charismatic industry playboy. The idea for the film has been floating around for some time now, but we've gotten word that a big name might be cast in the lead role. According to Forbes, George Clooney could be the man destined for gullwing greatness.

Nothing is confirmed and it appears Forbes is merely speculating that Clooney would be the right man for the part based upon a conversation with Stephen Wynne, head of the reborn DeLorean Motor Company. It's certainly not a bad choice, but we're sure you have some good ideas as to who could fill John Z's on-screen shoes. Sound off in Comments and let us know who you think should play John DeLorean in the forthcoming David Permut-produced biopic.

Off subject but I always heard that Knudsen was good for hot rodders so why didn't he & Shelby get along ?

      STOP USING THE WORD, Biopic.
John Delorean makes for a very good film. But his life was not epic.
Winston Churchill=Biopic. So epic, his autobiography was in volumes.

Clooney is a good choice but Paul DeLorean, John's nephew, is the same height, looks like John, talks like John, he even thinks like John and his car designs are even further out. He is a great actor and definiely would be the best choice.

Ya know, looking at this pic reminds me of that famous Bob Lutz photo of him smoking a cigar standing next to an Opel he'd just flipped. Clooney wouldn't make a bad Lutz!
. . .or Lutz can play Delorean. Forget Clooney :-)

George would be a good choice, it was a hell of a story begging for a film to be made, so if its well written and directed the actor playing John is onto a winner. There is so much to this story, the British government funded the factory in Belfast and subsquently lost it all, so who would play the 'Iron Lady' Mrs Thatcher?

Timothy Dalton with grey hair, and no mustache.

        I agree

        Have you seen him lately?

He was in Chuck a few times... and was in Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg...

He wasn't the best James Bond, but he isn't a bad actor.

coming from someone who as read the James Bond books I can say I prefer Dalton over the others.

Besides he is a very talented actor, most of his acting is from stage acting, sure he hasn't done as much on screen, but he is very talented

While he may look a decent amount like DeLorean, he's such a lousy actor, it would surely kill the movie.
Clooney would be a good choice.

When I read the title I thought. . . hmm, dunno about that. But then I saw the picture and I can see the resemblence, so I guess that could work.

Doesn't really matter who plays the dude . Its his wife who needs to be the star attraction . She was beautiful ! Anybody got some photo's of her in her prime ?

Clooney will arrive on the set in his Prius just to drive a Delorian? Nahhhhhh, he would never do anything to dirty the air.
