2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK leaked in French promo film – Click above to watch video after the jump

Mercedes-Benz has pulled the drapes back on its 2012 SLK... by accident. A French promotional film made its way to the Internet, and the star of the clip is the redesigned hardtop convertible. We've got the video and a host of screen-grabs that show off some of the SLK's new features.

The compact two-door Benz will be available with the company's neck-warming AirScarf system, adaptive headlights, a seven-speed automatic transmission and a Magic Sky Control roof that darkens at the touch of a button.

The style of the Mercedes-Benz SLK has grown up to fall in line with the rest of the family. The front sports a very aggressive treatment with a gaping grille and a massive Three-Pointed Star. The whole package comes off as a miniature SL rather than a soft imitation of one.

Check out the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK from all angles by taking a stroll through the gallery below, and then hop the jump to see the video. Hat tips to Douglas and K7!

The SLK just went from a 2 to a 9. Damn!

Rightly or wrongly, I liked the F1-inspired look more than this.

Am I the only one who got genuinely frightened by this commercial? Scary as hell.

What is a new Mercedes-Benz doing in THAT kind of a film?! I didn't think they would want to be associated with . . . wait . . . oh, it says a PROMO film. Yeah, totally mis-read that.

Most of the SLK drivers I see are 45+ year old women who are just scooting around town. I'm not sure if they'll appreciate the edgy, broader styling.

      Just sayin'

... weird. It's a sport car and the first few minutes of the commercial is about safety.

Overall, I guess they're trying to portray the car as a daily driver?

What I got from the commercial is that the dude is slowly becoming insane. He killed some hooker, put her in the trunk, and now she's haunting his car. So now he's driving around, talking to this dead hooker, at night time looking for his next victim, apparently some jogging woman. Then some how his drug kick in, and he's hallucinating that the stop lights are bending. Got some roses to commemorate his dead hooker killing spree and google his way back home after burying the dead body. Sounds like an epic sequel to American Psycho, French Psycho!

Pshaw, and to think I got an F in French class.

Oh, the design is meh. The before refresh CL front end looks much better should have use that as the front end.

It's no Miata. I'll take the more fun Mazda with its superior power hardtop and pocket the $20K difference. Laughing all the way to the bank.

My opinion on the SLK vs Z4 Debate:

I know design is subjective, but credit has to be given for execution of w/e they wanted to design. You can tell the Bavarians put an effort in the Z4, it looks like worked from bottom up to execute what they intended. With this new SLK it seems like they forced the current theme on the old car, and didn't try very hard after that. It doesn't resemble a definite shape like the Z4 does.

C- for MB, they are just leveraging their name to sell this one.

Benz needs a new video marketing staff. I'd be embarrassed to even be that actor in this film 'cause it's so lame. SLK has is always will be a car for guys with money and no style, and for successful women with mid life crisis'.

In the 10th picture, the car beside SLK looks similar to a B-Class... maybe the new B-Class??
Way better looking than the current fugly SLK although I would not call this attractive either.

By the way, why is a dude driving this car? This is a chick car.
