Lotus Europa – Click above for high-res image gallery

The Lotus Europa died so that the Evora could live. Now it seems that Lotus-owner Proton is looking to revive the Europa and stick the Proton badge on the bodywork. The resulting Proton-badged Europa would provide a relatively affordable sports car for the Malaysian market.

In fact, this very car has recently popped up in the form of the Proton Lekir Concept, which is essentially a tiger-badged Europa. If this conceptual car ever comes to fruition, we'll be interested to see how the Malaysian market would respond to a Lotus they can truly call their own.

      Didnt Dodge already do this?

RX-Elise -> Yes, but Chrysler LLC just dumped that EV motor in it on its Dodge EV version. While The Dodge Circuit EV was a minor Dodge nose-job on its EV Concept.

-> While the Proton version is mildly unique at best. But it is still distinctive imo.

Forgot about the Dodge. Why don't they change the bodywork more?? Of all recent Lotus models, I find the Europa the most boring to look at. Kinda like an average looking girl in a family of supermodels.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I read the headline.

Horrible marketing pictures on the black one.

      Black car + white background = 4WD.

      I own one
guess I am keeping it forever if it becomes a proton and its now worth $5
        • 4 Years Ago
Well the Elan became a Kia, and that's worth a little more than $5 ;)

I like it...no offensive angles on that one.

Kinda wish they would have kept more of the funky high-back look of the original Europa. There's almost no styling cues that connect this new Europa to its lineage.
