On Monday, car rental heavyweight, Hertz, announced that Coda Automotive
's electric Sedan
will join its fleet of vehicles at select locations in SoCal sometime in 2011. Hertz' announcement follows Enterprise Rent-a-Cars' purchase order
placed in October that will add up to 100 battery-powered Codas to its fleet by the end of next year. Neither Hertz, nor Coda disclosed details regarding the number of vehicles purchased, but the presser does refer to the agreement as a "joint partnership."
Back in May, Hertz announced
that it will begin renting the Nissan Leaf
in the U.S and Europe shortly after customer deliveries kick off. In July, Enterprise and Nissan agreed to a deal
that will see up to 500 Leafs show up on the rental company's lots starting early next year. Coda's deal with Hertz could increase public awareness of the brand and help the automaker overcome some of the heat
that it's received since delaying the launch
of its only vehicle, the Coda Sedan.
