Facebook is quickly becoming the auto industry's go-to resource for leaking news and information... unless you happen to make German sports cars. Toyota, however, does not make German sports cars, so it's all about the Facebook and has a page set up for its popular Prius hybrid. On said page, we came across this photo showing off the interior of "an upcoming addition to the Prius family."

Toyota keeps teasing the upcoming Prius people mover, which is scheduled to debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, and this latest photo provides an unencumbered glimpse of what's inside the Prius MPV. From what we can tell, the materials appear to be of similar quality but the overall design much more interesting than what's in the 2010 Prius. Also of note is that the navigation screen is shown displaying iheartradio, a streaming audio network that provides access to over 750 stations from around the country.

Am I the only one that feels that the dash-mounted shifter makes it feel like you're driving a toy?
will this have an option to run away and kill its occupants like the 08 camry just did in utah - the cause of which by police based on witnesses and evidence is a sticky gad pedal?
With a small donation to the Toyota Legal Fund you can get the red "Kill" button installed.

        FT,

I'm not sure how much of an **** you have to be to not realize that if you stomp on the brakes at a high speed in a vehicle with abs, you will leave skid marks.

try it in your parent's minivan next time they let you drive it.
You mean the one where the police said Camry with ABS left skidmarks from locking the tires? LMAO!

Obviously another moron driver like all the other cases of "unintended acceleration".

Is this anticipated to be Sienna size or Mazda 5 size? Guessing Mazda 5 size. My wife would be instrested in a hybrid mini-van but only if it's normal U.S. size.

It looks like they're staying with the with the Lexus HS-style dashboards with the protruding controls in the middle... and a large piece of silver plastic. I'm not a fan of the current prius interior but i'd gladly take it over whatever this is.
dang it looks like it's all hard plastic.

new town&country/grand caravan/odyssey are all much nicer inside.
I really liked the design at first glance, but then I noticed it appears to be burdened with the same cheap, hard plastic that is finding its way into all new Toyotas. What happened to their interior quality? Toyota was one of the first non-luxury automakers to start using soft plastics...compare a last model Sienna to the new generation, and there's a major downgrade in quality, the last Sienna's interior was comparable to a Lexus. The new 4-Runner has had an even worse downgrade in quality of interior from the last generation.

Toyota, you should see "Hyundai Sonata" for what a new car interior should look and feel like.

This isn't competing against those...Toyota still has the Sienna which kicks their ass.
Actually no the sienna is no better besides the awd option. Rode in one other day...interior was mostly hard plastic also.

        Thanks.

      Dayum Prius, You Scary!
Two of my coworkers have Priuses. They are garbage on the inside. Soft mushy seats. Hard shiny Plastic that looks like someone shaved it with a cheese grater. And a clunky loud tiny little shifter only a girl could like. This Prius van is going to be quite popular with the ladies from the looks of it so thats ok, but any guy who drives anything Prius, well they will continue to be laughed and cut off by people like me everyday,

Luis how in the hell do u think the Sienna "kicks their ass". The sienna is the biggest POS minivan out there. The interior is HIDEOUSLY CHEAP and UGLY as hell which compliments its hideous exterior styling. 95% of Toyotas sold are crappy base CE or LE models so the Sienna with its cheap black plastic grille is puke-inducing at its best. So gross. But then again most Toyota drivers are clueless mimes who couldnt care less that their vehicle is as ugly as they are so whatever....

Theres nothing in this world more exciting than the interior of a Pruis Van.
        Except maybe a Prius.

Prius minivan interior reveal equals Facebook jumping a certain shark?

On a serious note: I wonder if Toyota is considering spinning Prius off as its own brand, such as Scion? I know it goes against the trend of down-sizing and dumping nameplates, but in five to ten years they could have a whole family of vehicles...or maybe I just need more coffee.
That picture pretty much encapsulates everything I don't like about the HS250h/Prius interiors. I don't like the dash that sweeps to you and I don't like the shifting stalk on the dash. Just use buttons to shift if you're not going to use a proper center console or column shifter.

I can't believe Toyota is going to make another single-zone climate system. I guess if this thing is the same price as a Prius it's acceptable.
        Agreed.

Also, I'm curious as to why you don't see more automakers using buttons as all of the gear selectors become electronic anyway...
I hate that little shifter, it's completely pointless, and the fact that it's made from the cheapest plastic the industry can produce and its lack of any weighted feeling makes it the worst shifter on the market. Push-buttons are far superior.
