Gran Turismo 5 fans, it's time to rejoice! On the U.S. Playstation blog, the manger of the public relations team has posted a North American on sale date of Wednesday, November 24. Fingers crossed that this doesn't get pushed back yet again! We have a feeling this date is going to stick, though, because Kazunori Yamauchi, the President of Polyphony Digital Inc. has added this statement:
"Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre.

With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans.

Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly.

I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."
He wasn't kidding when he says GT5 offers a "wealth of driving experiences." Even though it's still two weeks away, we can't decide if we want to hit the WRC courses or the street courses first. Regardless, our Thanksgiving celebrations just got rearranged. Top tip, Martin!

Not only am I a Forza fanboy, but I actually worked on one version of Forza, and I am pre-ordering this game.

Yes, I still have my opinions on GT5P's physics, and UI, AI and gameplay issues that haven't been fixed since the first one came out 13 years ago (and I doubt will be fixed this time around, either), but come on. Regardless how it turns out, the release of GT5 is a milestone, and I'd gladly pay $60 for that piece of history.

And even with my criticisms, the game's going to have exceptional graphics and a ridiculous feature list, even if parts of it still feel rough around the edges to me.

      It's about time.

So I can go ahead and buy a PS3 now? I was sitting around yesterday playing GT4 on my PS2, and the whole time was thinking how I wish it was in HD. Now I have a real reason to buy a PS3.

thats what I said two or three years ago when prologue came out...been waiting for the real deal ever since
      • 4 Years Ago
      Hell YES.

Now I'll pick up my PS3 and GT5.

So will there be a new Gran Turismo for PSP too?

I just received email from Amazon to tell me my GT5 pre-order has been delayed by the publisher to December 31st 2010, delivery mid-January.

I will no doubt be buying the game on nov 24 but let me just voice a few concerns..

Wtf is the Ferrari list? Huge disappointment, too many models missing to even list. There should easily be another 20 cars.

No Porsche. Enough said. And they didn't even make up for it by including more modern Rufs or at least making the old ones premium.

      No Koenigsegg.

Track list is pretty disappointing as well. They've taken out a lot of the original tracks like Midfield and Seattle and there doesn't seem to be a test track for high speed runs.

Seems like we could have got this game 2 years ago without damage, Nascar, or go-karting.. big deal. The damage models look like crap anyway. I would way rather have no damage and more Ferraris and other European cars. If 'kaz' is trying to make the game more appealing to the US market why is it so clearly biased towards Japanese cars?

He obviously believes we are only interested in NASCAR, he is now giving it to us, so we all must be down on our knees thanking him.

I am of the same opinion as you, except I'd like to see more American cars. Seriously with the new pony car wars the only Mustang we get from the last 5 years is a 2007 GT?

Are they sure they don't want to delay it again, just for old times' sake?

      @Gruv -

I love reading the gramatical errors in each of your posts.

Are you going to purchase 1 or 2 V8 Camry's? Try 'by purchasing'

Also, I am not sure you possess the driving skill to continually rip on a game you have never played.

If true, I'll be doing a lot of driving over Thanksgiving break, at least over part of it.
I feel like this is one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of things still...

        @ Gruv

I might have to agree with you for once here.

I think NASCAR was a pointless addition to GT5. I would have much rather have them focus on how a specific vehicle sounds, or put more effort into F1 and karts than NASCAR.

It only appeals to Americans, and certainly not this American.

        @ Gruv

Man, b*tch enough? Do us all a favor, quit whining and just dont buy the game if it bothers you so much.
        Nascar is pointless.
Over 1000 cars and NO 2010/2011 Mustang GT or 2003/2004 SVT Cobra?

        LAME.

        LAAAMMMEEE.

        LLLLAAAAAAMMMMMMEEEEEEE!

I am not a NASCAR fan, but it might still be fun to participate in a race, even if I can only do it from behind a PS3 controller. It does seem odd to me that a game that is so Japan-centric (4000 versions of the Skyline GT-R, 3000 Evos, 1 or 2 Corvettes or Vipers) would suddenly jump all in to a very American form of racing. I hope this game has a lot more American (market) cars to play with too.

        @ Quaffle,

I 150% agree with you. I'd love to have seen the various Cobra R's too, especially the '93. I know there's one in Forza but I just can't abide by MS' stupid proprietary wheel for that game (and I already owned a PS3 and G25 wheel).

I'm really hoping there's a Mustang DLC pack to help us out there. I know they're not gonna let me throw an MM suspension setup on it but the '93 R is about as close as I'll get to my personal track car until I take the plunge and buy a Boss 302 or '11 and up GT (assuming those cars ever make it into DLC- much more likely).

        @ Gruv

That awful jazz elevator music is pretty much a trademark of the GT series. I'd be disappointed if it wasn't in the game.

I agree with you on the rally as well. In GT4 you could go from dirt to grass and not notice any traction loss or gain. Not very realistic.

        Gruv,

Can you cite for me somewhere that proves the extra year was due to NASCAR?

Because so far as I can tell...plenty more development went into the game in that time.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. Not buying a game because of the music proves you didn't really care anyway.

Nice job sticking your completely off-topic post to the first one btw.

Dont hold your breath guys, how long have we been waiting hmmm. I sold my ps3 because I was tired of waiting. This game should have been LAUNCHED with THE PS3 period! I hate to say it but I am a forza fan now and I am not turning back. I am sure I will pay it at a friends house at some point but ohh well. FORZA 4 will be out in 20 months or less and I will be ON TIME with NO Delays !!!! and YOU know why because they have it together!!! I have always thought GT was better than Forza but I just was tired of waiting.
